Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Gujarat Titans (GT) have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel as their new batting coach in a statement released on Wednesday (Nov 13). Parthiv, represented India in ODI and Test cricket for India while also applying his trade with several IPL franchises including Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. He will work closely with former India speedster Ashish Nehra who is also the head coach of the 2022 IPL winners.

"The Gujarat Titans are pleased to announce the appointment of Parthiv Patel as their new Assistant and Batting Coach. With a distinguished 17-year career as a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.”

“As the Titans prepare for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Parthiv's insights into batting techniques and strategies will play a crucial role in enhancing the players' skills,” a statement released by GT read.

The 39-year-old played in 139 matches before calling time on his IPL career in 2019. He remains one of few players to have won the IPL title with both CSK and MI during his stints with the two most successful teams in the league.

Gujarat Titans retained Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan for the IPL 2025 season while releasing players like Mohammed Shami and David Miller. The franchise is hoping to rejuvenate in the upcoming season as they look for another golden run. They won the IPL in their debut season in 2022 under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy while also reaching the playoff round in 2023.

GT did not finish in the playoff places in IPL 2024 under Shubman Gill’s captaincy and will look to bolster their squad for the 2025 season in the auction. The former champions have a purse of INR 690mn ($8.18mn).
