Johannesburg, South Africa
Hosts South Africa have announced their squad for the T20I series against India, with Aiden Markram leading the side. Cricket South Africa, on Thursday (Oct 31), announced a 16-man squad led by Markram, with star Kagiso Rabada rested. The series not part of the ICC’s calendar will start on November 8, with the Indian side led by Suryakumar Yadav and assisted by VVS Laxman set to stamp their authority in another overseas series.
South Africa announce squad
Having lost the T20 World Cup final to India in June, South Africa will seek revenge as they take on Suryakumar Yadav’s side. Lutho Sipamla, Tristan Stubbs have yet again earned the faith of the board, with the former being available for only the last two matches. On the other hand, senior members like Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj and David Miller continue to be part of the side.
The hosts have been good in the shortest format of the game, but India might be an opponent they will avoid taking lightly. Rabada has been rested for the series as South Africa have important assignments to come in the next two months. Considering they are still in the running for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Rabada’s workload management will be a crucial part of the process.
