Trump said he had not been surprised that France had invited Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for talks on the sidelines of the G7 gathering.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday he wanted to see a strong Iran and was not seeking regime change in Tehran, adding that the way Iranians were being forced to live was unacceptable, reported news agency Reuters.
''Not looking for regime change in Iran,'' Trump was quoted as saying on the sidelines of G7 summit in Biarritz, France.
Talking to reporters at a summit, Trump said he had not been surprised that France had invited Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for talks on Sunday on the sidelines of the G7 gathering.
Trump said that he told the French President Emmanuel Macron to 'go-ahead' on Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's surprise G7 visit.
However, he said that he had not wanted to see Zarif himself, adding that it was 'too soon' for him to meet Iran foreign minister.
