Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei on Wednesday (Apr 1) denied US President Donald Trump's claims that Tehran asked for a ceasefire. The state television quoted Baqaei, “Trump's statements about Iran's request for a ceasefire are false and baseless.” Days before Donald Trump's ultimatum to Iran ends, he said Tehran has asked America for a ceasefire. In his social media post, he also said “Iran's new regime president (is) much less radicalised and far more intelligent than his predecessors." Though he clarified that a ceasefire will only be considered when the Strait of Hormuz “ is open, free, and clear”. Until then, the US will continue “blasting”.
This isn't the first instance where Trump quoted Iran and the latter then denied his claims. Earlier, the 79-year-old, in his social media post wrote, “I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions.” He also pointed at “detailed, and constructive conversations”, while Tehran denied any such dialogue. The Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, said no direct or indirect talks have taken place in the last 24 hours, and the parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, reiterated.

What is Trump's strategy? Maybe rhetorical or a real dilemma for the world. Ever since, the US and Israel's joint military operation started on February 28, it is not just the country, but the war has spread across West Asia. Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Lebanon have also been targets of drones and missiles. The Strait of Hormuz has been blocked, and that has led to a situation even back home in India.
