Earlier, Vinesh had appealed at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) against her disqualification from the 50kg freestyle final bout at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Vinesh was disqualified after being found 100 grams overweight at the official weigh-in on the morning of the final on Wednesday (Aug 7).
"Vinesh Phogat appeals disqualification at Court of Arbitration for Sport. Vinesh asked to be reinstated for Gold match and then modified plea to ask for a shared silver. CAS has replied to the mail. CAS will give interim ruling tomorrow," reported WION's Digvijay Singh Deo from Paris. The appeal was filed at 5:51 pm Paris time (9:20 PM India time).
CAS, on her appeal to be reinstated in the gold medal match, said that it can't stop the final after which the wrestler asked for the joint silver medal. The CAS will be delivering its decision on the matter on Thursday (Aug 8).
