The charge sheet was filed by the CID in the special court dealing with POCSO cases.

A first information report (FIR) was filed against Yediyurappa in March for alleged sexual assault of a minor girl.

The FIR was filed by the mother of the 17-year-old girl who alleged that the senior BJP leader sexually assaulted her daughter during a meeting on February 2.

Reacting to the FIR, Yediyurappa told reporters, "A few days ago a woman came to my house. She was crying saying that there was some problem. I asked her what was the matter and I personally called the police commissioner about the matter and told him to help her."

The BJP leader said that the woman started talking against him, and he brought this matter to the attention of the police.

"Yesterday police filed a complaint against me. Let's see what happens next, I can't say that there is a political motive behind this," he added.

The 54-year-old woman who levelled allegations against Yediyurappa died last month due to lung cancer.

The CID questioned the former Karnataka CM on June 17 for about three hours over the allegations.

Ahead of his arrival at the CID office, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra said, "Regarding the new case against Yediyurappa ji, we have trust in the court. He is going before the investigation agency today. Whatever he has to say, he will say it there. Nothing to worry about. He will say everything in front of the SIT."
