Asia Cricket Council (ACC) chairman and Pakistan’s Interior Affairs Minister Mohsin Naqvi exposed his double standards on Sunday (Dec 21) during the U19 Asia Cup final. Yet to handover India its Asia Cup senior trophy for their win in September, Naqvi raised eyebrows by handing over Pakistan its Asia Cup U19 trophy on Sunday. The double-standard behaviour by Naqvi comes less than three months after India had beaten Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai.
Naqvi showcases double standards
Just months after denying India’s rightful trophy for the Asia Cup 2025 triumph, Naqvi was on his way to Dubai in the early hours of Sunday. After India lost to Pakistan by a massive 191 runs, he congratulated Pakistan for its win and later handed out medals. This has seen angry reactions from the Indian crowd, who have been waiting to see their trophy, yet to be handed out.
Naqvi was even seen posing with some players, while India yet again boycotted the presentation ceremony.
What happened in the final?
It was a day to forget for India in the U19 Asia Cup final on Sunday (Dec 21) as they were beaten by Pakistan in a one-sided affair. Playing at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, India lost to Pakistan by a massive 191 runs as the Men in Green won their second title. This was also Pakistan’s first outright Asia Cup U19 title, having shared the 2013 title with India after a tie. Sameer Minhas’s 172-run knock from 113 deliveries and Ali Raza’s 42/4 were the highlight reel for Pakistan in the summit clash.

India were bowled out for 156 runs with Deepesh Devendran top scoring for the Boys in Blue. Star player Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 26 before getting out, while Khilan Patel (19), Aaron George (16) and Abhigyan Kundu (13) were other batters to get into double figures.
Earlier, having won the toss, India captain Ayush Mhatre opted to bowl first, a decision that had a butterfly effect for the Indian team. Pakistan batters ran riot from the start, with Sameer Minhas slamming 172 runs from 113 deliveries. His innings included 17 fours and nine sixes and had a strike rate of more than 150.
Wicketkeeper-batter Hamza Zahoor scored 18 while key contributions also included Usman Khan (35), Ahmed Hussain (56) and captain Farhan Yousaf (19). As a result, Pakistan scored 347/8 in their 50 overs with Deepesh Devendran being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 83/3 while Henil Patel and Khilan Patel ended with two wickets each.
