Viral video shows drunk driver dragging traffic policeman. WATCH

A cab driver reportedly tried to flee when a traffic policeman asked for the documents of the vehicle he was driving in the North Indian state of Haryana.

A video of the incident, which happened in the Ballabhgarh bus stop area on Friday (Jun 21), went viral on social media platforms. The white-coloured SUV can be seen speedingwith thesub-inspector being dragged for a few meters.

It appears that the driver was trying to flee the scene, however, the traffic police managed to nab him after a brief chase.

As per local reports, the driver was said to be in an intoxicated state. He had apparently parked his car in the middle of the road to pick up passengers, obstructing the traffic.

A policeman approached him and asked for documents. When the cop was preparing a challan, the driver accelerated the car and dragged the policeman - who had leaned in through the driver's door to examine the papers - for some distance, which could have caused serious injuries.

As seen in the video, passengers who were sitting in the car jumped out from the moving car to save their lives. Local reports have mentioned that the police have seized the car and identified the driver. They have also promised to take strict action against him.

The incident caused outrage on social media. One user reacted to the video, saying, "The driver should be booked for an attempt to murder. It's highly criminal Whoever he is, he should not be spared." Another user said, "The cab driver should not be spared any longer."
