The relief aid was announced after foreign minister Sushma Swaraj held talks withCaribbean delegation in the thirdIndia-CaribbeanCommunity (CARICOM) meeting in New York, on the sidelines of 72nd session of United Nations General Assembly.
'Irma', which ranked as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record before striking the U.S. mainland as a Category 4 hurricane on Sept. 10, killed at least 84 people. Several hard-hit Caribbeanislands, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, suffered more than half the fatalities.
Now just days after Irma left a trail of destruction, 'Maria', is churning right through the region and, reportedly has already claimed one life.
Swaraj also delivered her address at Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) ministerial meeting with Palestine and reassured the support ofIndiatowards Palestinian people.
