A powerful earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale has struck Chamba, a picturesque town in Himachal Pradesh, India.
At 9:34 pm in evening hours of Thursday (Apr 4), Chamba was jolted and the tremors reverberated strongly throughout the town and even reached as far as Manali, approximately 100 km away.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of major damage thus far.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck Chamba at a depth of 10 kilometres.

Divyanshu, a resident of Manali, reportedly described feeling the tremors intensely, stating, "Felt quite strong tremors in Manali. It lasted for about seven seconds."

Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh, recounted his experience, saying, "I felt a strong jolt lasting a couple of seconds. Just when I was thinking of rushing downstairs, the tremors stopped," as reported to PTI news agency.
