
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is heading tothe Cannes Film Festival. Directed by George Miller, the action-drama starring Anya Taylor-Joy is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year.
The prequel to the much-acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road will have its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. However, the movie will screen out of the competition at the Grand Theatre Lumière at le Palais des Festivals on May 15.
“The idea of this prequel has been with me for over a decade,” said Miller in a statement.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to return to the Festival de Cannes – along with Anya, Chris and Tom [Burke] – to share Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. There is no better place than La Croisette to experience this film with audiences on the world stage,” he added.
In 2015,Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road premiered at the festival.Upon its release, the post-apocalyptic action film starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, went on to earn praise from critics and audiences alike. The movie earned $380.4 million at the worldwide box office.

The movie received numerous accolades including sixwins out of ten Oscar nominations at the 88th Academy Awards.

In the upcoming movie, Anya Taylor-Joy will step into the shoes of ImperatorFuriosa, the role of war captain that was played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 action film.
Furiosa is set more than a decade before the Fury Road,events, and will follow the life of young Furiosa
after she's taken away from the Green Place of Many Mothers by the bikers. The movie will show Furiosa's attempt to return home.
Chris Hemsworth will play the role of the villainous Warlord Dementus, The movie also stars Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson.
Furiosa will release in theatres on May 24, 2024.
