Shortly after the Indian cricket team arrived in South Africa, Shikhar Dhawan took to Twitter expressing his distress over "unprofessional from @emirates".
Dhawan was travelling to South Africa along with his family for Team India's 56-day tour of South Africa.
According to the tweet, Dhawan's wife and kids were asked to produce their birth certificates & other documents at the airport and were not allowed to board the flight to South Africa from the Dubai airport.
Disgruntled with the whole incident, the 32-year-old opening batsman noted that his family had to stay back at the Dubai airport.
"Why didn't @emirates notify about such a situation when we were boarding the plane from Mumbai? One of the emirates' employee was being rude for no reason at all," he tweeted.
