<h3>Journey of Kavita</h3><p>Three years ago, Kavita's world was upended when her husband, Deepak Mahto, died after a long battle with illness. But Kavita wasn't content to simply get by, she began working toward a government job that could offer her family long-term stability.</p><p><br>Determined to clear the police or home guard recruitment exams, she adopted a punishing routine: rising at 4:00 am each day to train on country roads, often in her regular clothes since she couldn't afford running shoes or proper athletic gear. A Wall Street Journal report details Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s alleged short temper, including a restaurant confrontation with protesters, outbursts at staff, and departures of officials from his department. Despite not delivering on his promises, Trump administration defends him

A Wall Street Journal report has claimed that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spat in his own food and stormed out of a Washington, D.C., restaurant after being confronted by anti-war protesters. The report is part of a larger investigation into Bessent's management style and work conduct in the 20 months in office in the administration of President Donald Trump. What happened with Bessent in the DC restaurant? Last December, Code Pink members interrupted Bessent's dinner. The activist group criticised the Trump administration's use of economic sanctions. Describing the protesters as ignorant, Bessent got angry with the restaurant's owner for failing to remove them. As per the owner and a nearby diner, Bessent then spat in his food before leaving, claimed the WSJ report. On the Tibetan plateau, deep inside a mountain, ice from the last ice age has survived for 128,000 years. This makes it the oldest ice to be present on any mountain aside from the poles. Scientists plan to use the finding to understand climate changes in the region.

<p>Scientists may have made a breakthrough in their search for Planet Nine, identifying a faint object whose brightness and slow motion are exactly what is expected of a cosmic body at that distance from Earth and the Sun. Scanning through infrared observations gathered decades ago, they found an object that was at a particular place in one survey and had moved across in the second survey done 23 years later.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The study by researchers from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan was published in the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia. The authors said the object emerged as the single best candidate after the analysis of millions of infrared sources. This suggests that a larger body's gravity could be pulling them.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This planet would be lurking beyond Neptune, hundreds of astronomical units away, in a cold and dark region where sunlight barely reaches. This makes finding Planet Nine extremely difficult since barely any light would bounce towards Earth. But planets release heat, and so astronomers started using spacecraft that can detect infrared radiation.</p><h2><strong>Surveys from 1983 and 2006 were studied</strong></h2><p>Terry Long Phan and his team studied data from two such missions - RAS, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite from 1983 and Japan’s AKARI spacecraft, which did an infrared survey in 2006 and 2007. This long gap gave them a window into how a distant planet might have shifted its place. They looked for objects that appeared in both the surveys and were consistent with a slow movement.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>They searched for a planet located between 500 and 700 astronomical units and around 7 to 17 times Earth’s mass by checking for brightness, location and infrared characteristics. They found 22 possible pairings; the number then reduced to 13 before they were left with just one candidate. This object had moved by 47.46 arcminutes between the IRAS and AKARI observations.</p><h2><strong>Why has it not been declared Planet Nine?</strong></h2><p>While scientists may have detected a possible Planet Nine candidate, they are not rushing to confirm it. It still needs to fit into the parameters of an object that would cause the unusual trajectories of objects in the outer Solar System. For this to happen, it must move on the right path.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Phan says further research should utilise the Dark Energy Camera on the 4-meter Blanco Telescope in Chile to see if this object is moving on the right orbit to qualify as Planet Nine.&nbsp;</p>

Taiwanese scientists have, for the first time, detected real clues about Planet Nine and that it might, after all, be real. They studied two sky surveys done over a 23-year gap to check for objects that may have shifted from their position. And Voila! They found one.

Scientists may have made a breakthrough in their search for Planet Nine, identifying a faint object whose brightness and slow motion are exactly what is expected of a cosmic body at that distance from Earth and the Sun. Scanning through infrared observations gathered decades ago, they found an object that was at a particular place in one survey and had moved across in the second survey done 23 years later. The study by researchers from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan was published in the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia. The authors said the object emerged as the single best candidate after the analysis of millions of infrared sources. However, they asserted that this is not confirmation of a ninth planet, and only gives them a new target to focus on in the hunt for this elusive body, which may or may not exist. Why do we think Planet Nine is real? Planet Nine remains a hypothetical object, but astronomers are confident that it exists, even though it has never been seen. The signs point to this body being real. Several objects in that region seem to have huddled around an unknown body, as reflected in their unusually tilted orbits. This suggests that a larger body's gravity could be pulling them. This planet would be lurking beyond Neptune, hundreds of astronomical units away, in a cold and dark region where sunlight barely reaches. This makes finding Planet Nine extremely difficult since barely any light would bounce towards Earth. But planets release heat, and so astronomers started using spacecraft that can detect infrared radiation. Surveys from 1983 and 2006 were studied Terry Long Phan and his team studied data from two such missions - RAS, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite from 1983 and Japan’s AKARI spacecraft, which did an infrared survey in 2006 and 2007. This long gap gave them a window into how a distant planet might have shifted its place. They looked for objects that appeared in both the surveys and were consistent with a slow movement. They searched for a planet located between 500 and 700 astronomical units and around 7 to 17 times Earth’s mass by checking for brightness, location and infrared characteristics. They found 22 possible pairings; the number then reduced to 13 before they were left with just one candidate. This object had moved by 47.46 arcminutes between the IRAS and AKARI observations. Why has it not been declared Planet Nine? While scientists may have detected a possible Planet Nine candidate, they are not rushing to confirm it. It still needs to fit into the parameters of an object that would cause the unusual trajectories of objects in the outer Solar System. For this to happen, it must move on the right path. Phan says further research should utilise the Dark Energy Camera on the 4-meter Blanco Telescope in Chile to see if this object is moving on the right orbit to qualify as Planet Nine.

<p>Taiwanese scientists have, for the first time, detected real clues about Planet Nine and that it might, after all, be real. They studied two sky surveys done over a 23-year gap to check for objects that may have shifted from their position. And Voila! They found one.&nbsp;</p>

First signs of Planet Nine may have been finally detected

<h2><strong>ACP Vivek Bhagat controversy explained</strong></h2><p>The arrest follows an ongoing controversy surrounding allegations against Bhagat during the October 3 protest. A woman journalist alleged that Bhagat sexually harassed her while she was reporting on the detention of protesters. Three women journalists subsequently submitted complaints alleging sexual harassment by police personnel. Delhi Police said the complaints were transferred to the Crime Branch for a “fair and impartial inquiry”.</p><p>Bhagat was promoted to the rank of Additional DCP on Monday along with other officers from his batch. However, the order assigning him the additional charge was subsequently withdrawn. According to the government, Bhagat had requested that he not take charge until the inquiry into the allegations was completed.</p><p>The controversy has also triggered demands for an FIR and further action against the officer. Police have maintained that the complaints are being investigated by the Crime Branch.</p><h2><strong>AI fabrication vs the real complaint</strong></h2><p>Notably, the arrest of Ahmed concerns the alleged creation and circulation of fabricated digital material, and is not a determination on the underlying allegations against Bhagat.</p><p>Police have described the purported CCTV footage and poster as AI-generated or manipulated. Separately, the sexual harassment complaint against Bhagat remains under investigation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ignorance is bliss, and we cannot help but use the phrase for a senior Democratic lawmaker in the United States who revealed a few weeks ago that he hadn't even heard about artificial intelligence "until a week ago". Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina told the America, Actually podcast, "Believe it or not, I didn’t know what that was until a week ago." His admission is drawing flak from young voters who are flabbergasted to know that a lawmaker is unaware of AI.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>A clip of the unbelievable admission is going viral as debate about the dangers of AI rages on. The technology is threatening millions of jobs, with several thousand already having lost to AI. Industry experts have also raised alarm about how it could spell doom for humanity, wiping us off the face of Earth in as little as four years. Anti-AI activists have been thronging conferences and demanding answers on why the common man has never been consulted on scaling up the technology.</p><h2><strong>I don't know what ChatGPT or Claude are</strong></h2><p>On the podcast, host Astead Herndon asked Clyburn whether he ever uses ChatGPT or Claude. When he said he hadn't even heard about AI until recently, Herndon says, "I’m jealous. You’ve got yourself in a bubble." The 86-year-old politician replies, "That may sound strange to you. I didn’t know what that was."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Herndon then asks Clyburn if he had been to a data centre, and how he legislates being so far from this technology. &nbsp; The politician says, "I have a great staff. You know, I wish I could know everything." He admitted that he doesn't know everything and doesn't spend time trying to learn everything. "What I spend my time doing is trying to surround myself with people who do know stuff," said Clyburn, who has announced that he is running for an 18th term.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The clip drew reactions from shocked netizens who cannot believe that someone in this day and age is unaware of AI. An X user wrote, "This is insane. We are so doomed as a country to be governed by the elderly." The user added that Clyburn has an "incredible legacy", but called his lack of knowledge on the subject "horrendous".</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Another said, "Well dam!! He’s definitely out of touch. Time to retire." One comment read, "Yet another reason for him to retire. How can you make laws about something you don't understand?"</p>

A South Carolina lawmaker's video admitting that he doesn't know what ChatGPT and Claude are, or anything else about AI, has left netizens in a tizzy. They are asking how a politician can make laws without even knowing about such an important topic.

A clip of the unbelievable admission is going viral as debate about the dangers of AI rages on. The technology is threatening millions of jobs, with several thousand already having lost to AI. Industry experts have also raised alarm about how it could spell doom for humanity, wiping us off the face of Earth in as little as four years. Anti-AI activists have been thronging conferences and demanding answers on why the common man has never been consulted on scaling up the technology. I don't know what ChatGPT or Claude are On the podcast, host Astead Herndon asked Clyburn whether he ever uses ChatGPT or Claude. When he said he hadn't even heard about AI until recently, Herndon says, "I’m jealous. You’ve got yourself in a bubble." The 86-year-old politician replies, "That may sound strange to you. I didn’t know what that was." Herndon then asks Clyburn if he had been to a data centre, and how he legislates being so far from this technology. The politician says, "I have a great staff. You know, I wish I could know everything." He admitted that he doesn't know everything and doesn't spend time trying to learn everything. "What I spend my time doing is trying to surround myself with people who do know stuff," said Clyburn, who has announced that he is running for an 18th term. The clip drew reactions from shocked netizens who cannot believe that someone in this day and age is unaware of AI. An X user wrote, "This is insane. We are so doomed as a country to be governed by the elderly." The user added that Clyburn has an "incredible legacy", but called his lack of knowledge on the subject "horrendous". Another said, "Well dam!! He’s definitely out of touch. Time to retire." One comment read, "Yet another reason for him to retire. How can you make laws about something you don't understand?"

<p>A South Carolina lawmaker's video admitting that he doesn't know what ChatGPT and Claude are, or anything else about AI, has left netizens in a tizzy. They are asking how a politician can make laws without even knowing about such an important topic.&nbsp;</p>

Finnish MPs are reporting a series of mysterious intrusions at their homes, with one lawmaker reportedly finding faeces in a toilet. Russia has been suspected of orchestrating the incidents. But why would Moscow do this? All you need to know.

Russia is facing what may sound like a bizarre accusation: sending its secret agents to defecate in the lavatories of Finnish MPs. Why, you may ask? As an intimidation tactic, purportedly in response to Russia's anger over Finland joining NATO. Finnish authorities are now investigating a series of suspected intrusions at the homes of members of parliament. This comes amid accusations that Russia could be staging an intimidation campaign targeting lawmakers. The unusual allegations gained attention after reports that as many as 20 MPs had discovered signs that someone had entered their homes. One lawmaker reportedly found faeces in a toilet. Notably, Finnish police have not identified those responsible or established a motive. Helsinki police and the National Bureau of Investigation are conducting a preliminary inquiry, which officials say is still at an early stage. Ben Zyskowicz, a senior MP from the ruling National Coalition Party, suggested the incidents could be intended to send a message to politicians. “It’s a way for the Russian intelligence service to show that people are being monitored, a way to create confusion or concerns,” he said, according to The Telegraph.
