On the Tibetan plateau, deep inside a mountain, ice from the last ice age has survived for 128,000 years. This makes it the oldest ice to be present on any mountain aside from the poles. Scientists plan to use the finding to understand climate changes in the region.

Taiwanese scientists have, for the first time, detected real clues about Planet Nine and that it might, after all, be real. They studied two sky surveys done over a 23-year gap to check for objects that may have shifted from their position. And Voila! They found one.

Scientists may have made a breakthrough in their search for Planet Nine, identifying a faint object whose brightness and slow motion are exactly what is expected of a cosmic body at that distance from Earth and the Sun. Scanning through infrared observations gathered decades ago, they found an object that was at a particular place in one survey and had moved across in the second survey done 23 years later.
According to police, Ahmed said he created the material with the intention of tarnishing the image of the Delhi Police and provoking protesters against the force.
ACP Vivek Bhagat controversy explained

The arrest follows an ongoing controversy surrounding allegations against Bhagat during the October 3 protest. A woman journalist alleged that Bhagat sexually harassed her while she was reporting on the detention of protesters. Three women journalists subsequently submitted complaints alleging sexual harassment by police personnel. Delhi Police said the complaints were transferred to the Crime Branch for a “fair and impartial inquiry”.

Bhagat was promoted to the rank of Additional DCP on Monday along with other officers from his batch. However, the order assigning him the additional charge was subsequently withdrawn. According to the government, Bhagat had requested that he not take charge until the inquiry into the allegations was completed.

The controversy has also triggered demands for an FIR and further action against the officer. Police have maintained that the complaints are being investigated by the Crime Branch.

AI fabrication vs the real complaint

Notably, the arrest of Ahmed concerns the alleged creation and circulation of fabricated digital material, and is not a determination on the underlying allegations against Bhagat.

Police have described the purported CCTV footage and poster as AI-generated or manipulated. Separately, the sexual harassment complaint against Bhagat remains under investigation.

Ethiopia's skyline could have once featured tall buildings with as many as 19 storeys. Experts say this was possible even though reinforced concrete or structural steel beams were not even a concept at the time. These skyscrapers could have stood tall, bearing all the weight.

India is already the largest source of primary temporary skilled visa grants. Home Affairs data shows 6,220 primary temporary skilled visas were granted to Indian citizens in the six months to December 31, 2025, accounting for 18.1 per cent of the total. That was a 16.2 per cent increase from the corresponding period a year earlier. Australia is tightening migration rules already The Coalition's announcement comes as Australia's Labour government is also tightening migration rules. New student visa integrity measures that took effect on October 2 restrict onshore student visa applications and limit the ability of most students to bring family members. The government has also targeted "visa hopping" and migration agents for exploiting the system. The Labour government is targeting net overseas migration of 245,000 for the current financial year and 225,000 for 2027-28.

Finnish authorities are now investigating a series of suspected intrusions at the homes of members of parliament. This comes amid accusations that Russia could be staging an intimidation campaign targeting lawmakers. The unusual allegations gained attention after reports that as many as 20 MPs had discovered signs that someone had entered their homes. One lawmaker reportedly found faeces in a toilet. Notably, Finnish police have not identified those responsible or established a motive. Helsinki police and the National Bureau of Investigation are conducting a preliminary inquiry, which officials say is still at an early stage. Ben Zyskowicz, a senior MP from the ruling National Coalition Party, suggested the incidents could be intended to send a message to politicians. “It’s a way for the Russian intelligence service to show that people are being monitored, a way to create confusion or concerns,” he said, according to The Telegraph. Eisenhower returns to port for aircraft systems assessment after Growler mishap No theft, but signs allegedly left behind Parliamentary Speaker Jussi Halla-aho said a “significant” number of suspected intrusions had been reported. The incidents are believed to have occurred over a longer period, with some dating back about a year. There were reportedly no clear signs of forced entry, and nothing appeared to have been stolen or damaged. Instead, MPs noticed small changes or objects in their homes that suggested someone may have entered while they were away. Halla-aho said such signs might have been deliberately left behind. Finnish authorities have urged MPs to remain alert and report suspicious activity. The Finnish Parliament has also begun working with Helsinki police and the National Bureau of Investigation to establish the scale and nature of the incidents. Parliament's deputy speaker Paula Risikko said authorities should determine who was responsible rather than speculate. Also read | Putin 'is plotting something bad': Russia may launch 'accidental' strikes on NATO countries supporting Ukraine, Poland PM warns Cold-war era tactic back in focus Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has said it is possible that a foreign power could be responsible for the suspected intrusions. While there is currently no official finding linking Russia to the incidents, the alleged use of unexplained disturbances inside private homes has echoes of Cold War-era intelligence tactics. Such operations were designed not necessarily to steal information, but to make targets aware that their private spaces could be penetrated. In a method the US State Department has previously described as “home intrusions”, Russian and Soviet intelligence services have allegedly used similar intimidation techniques against diplomats, journalists and other targets, including moving personal belongings or leaving doors and windows open. Finnish officials warn of threat to democracy President Alexander Stubb has backed the lawmakers targeted by the suspected intrusions. “An attack on a member of parliament is an attack on democracy,” Stubb said, adding that such conduct should not be accepted. With parliamentary elections approaching in Finland, the incidents have heightened concerns about possible foreign interference or intimidation. Police, however, have stressed that the investigation is at an early stage and that the perpetrator and motive remain unknown.
