Author-philanthropist and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty, shared a video explaining her perspective on gender equality.

Taking to X on Thursday (June 27), Murty explained how she believes men and women are ‘like two wheels of a bicycle’.

“In my view, men and women are equal but in different ways. They complement each other like two wheels of a bicycle; you can't move forward without the other,” Sudha Murty wrote on X.

The video starts with a question, “What is equality? You should define first”. She adds, “You know both genders are different”.

“Women are wired differently than men. Women are usually very good at languages," she said.

Murty further adds they are outstanding managers, compassionate and giving.

"Men, on the other hand, are different. They are wired differently. Their emotional quotient is not like women. They may have a good IQ but they definitely don't have a good EQ (emotional quotient)."

Since being shared, Murty's video has accumulated more than 5,904 views. Social media users posted varied comments while reacting to her opinion on gender equality.

“So true!!,” wrote an individual while agreeing with Murty. 

Another joined in and added, “True, Both face hard of life. Without both nature is not complete.”

A third wrote, “Very true. On same page.”

Earlier this week, she also posted about a phone call she once received from former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Murty thought the former president's call was for her husband and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy.

Taking to her official X account, she wrote, "Once I received a call from Mr. Abdul Kalam, who told me that he reads my columns and enjoys them."

Notably, Sudha Murty is also an author and former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation. 

Sudha Murty is the author of several books, mostly for children, and is also known for her contribution to Kannada and English literature. 

The 73-year-old author is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar, the Padma Shri (2006), and the Padma Bhushan (2023).
