<p>It was the ninth over of the match and Pandya's first, of which he had bowled juts three balls. On the third ball of the over, Pandya tripped on his follow-through and twisted his ankle. The Indian physio immediately rushed to the field and offered some treatment to the all-rounder. Pandya, however, wasn't able to continue and left the field.</p>

<p>The fans in MCA Stadium, Pune, however, cheered on as soon as Kohli came on to bowl. The star batter bowled rest of the three deliveries to complete the over. Have a look at the video here:</p>

At the toss, captain Rohit Sharma explained the reason for going unchanged and said, "It's working at this point of time, don't see any reason to change it."</p>

<p>"There's a reason why the guys won the T20 World Cup last year; there's a reason why the guys won the 2019 World Cup, and we're the defending champions," said Jonny Bairstow ahead of their next match against South Africa. "Just because we've lost a game to Afghanistan doesn't make us bad cricketers or anything like that," he added.</p>

<p>On England's 69-run loss against Afghanistan, Bairstow said that the Afghan players play in the IPL and have decent spinners in the squad. He also agreed that the team didn't play well enough but the team has moved on from that.</p>

<p>New Zealand continued their winning run in the ODI World Cup 2023 with a thumping 149-run win over Afghanistan in Chennai on October 18. While the Kiwi bowlers were very effective, their fielding was top-notch too as shown by Mitchell Santner who took a Superman catch during the match.</p>

<p>The spinner took a one-handed stunner off Lockie Ferguson to dismiss Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi to further derail the Afghan chase. <p>The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the alleged inappropriate conduct of the Ahmedabad crowd in their ODI World Cup contest against India on Saturday (Oct 14). The high-voltage clash between the two nations took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in which&nbsp;India beat Pakistan by seven wickets to extend their winning run to 8-0 against the arch-rivals in the ODI World Cup while more than 120,000 fans were in attendance.</p>

<h2><strong>PCB lodges complaint</strong></h2>

<p>"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023. The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023," read the statement.</p>

<p>The PCB has been in hot water recently and were first reluctant to play in Ahmedabad against India. However, those requests were not considered. The PCB also wanted clearance from the Indian government for their journalists to travel to India for the ODI World Cup, having previously seen their entry denied.</p>

PCB lodges complaint "The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023. <p>Netherlands pacer Logan van Beek was the star of the night for his team as the Dutch defended a modest 245 to upset red-hot South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023 match on October 17 in Dharamsala. The bowler took three wickets in total, including the much-needed wicket of David Miller who was the last hope for the Proteas after losing five wickets for 89.</p>

<p>Batting on 43 with the target still 100 runs away, Miller got a ripper of a ball from van Beek off which the batter swung a bit too early and wildly, resulting in his stumps being rattled. Have a look at the video here:</p>

<p>South Africa suffered a humiliating loss against the Netherlands in the ODI World Cup 2023 on October 17 in Dharamsala. This was South Africa's first loss in the ongoing tournament after winning their first two matches rather convincingly. Chasing a modest target of 246, the Proteas were all out for 207 and skipper Temba Bavuma wants that emotion to 'seep in.'</p>

<p>"You got to let the emotion kind of seep in," Bavuma said at the post-match presentation. "Don't think there is any point in trying to forget what's happened. It is going to hurt, it should hurt."</p>

<p>"But then you come back tomorrow, you wake up and we get back onto the journey. Our campaign is not over by any stretch of the imagination, but you got to feel the emotion of today and come back tomorrow with the head held up," he said.</p>

<p>"We were clinical against Australia, but the challenge was always to come back and replicate that performance. The fielding wasn't up to standard. Again if you look at the way we fielded against Australia compared to today, definitely not the same standard.</p>

<p>"Those are conversations we need to have. The guys need to answer the questions themselves where mentally they were. That's definitely not the standard we'd like to show from a fielding point of view."</p>

<p>South Africa had Netherlands on the ropes with six wickets down for 110-odd but a counterattack by Dutch captain Scott Edwards (78 off 69) took Netherlands to 245. South Africa were in tatters during the chase with five down for 89.</p>

<p>"I think we got them to 112 for 6. From that point, you are probably not looking at anything more than 200. We definitely dropped the ball there letting them get to 240-plus," Bavuma said. "With the batting, we were still confident in chasing down that score but we didn't get any partnerships. Them with their double-spin in the powerplay, was something we did not adapt to. Kudos to them, the way they were able to exploit certain weaknesses within our game."</p>

<p>Bangladesh cricket team is optimistic over the selection of skipper Shakib Al Hasan in their ODI World Cup contest against India as they sweat on the fitness of the star player. Shakib, leading Bangladesh in the World Cup injured his left quad against New Zealand in Chennai which raised concerns in the&nbsp;camp. While Shakib took to the nets on Tuesday and Wednesday, the management will take a call on Thursday (Oct 19) morning whether to include him in the matchday squad, according to head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.</p>

<h2><strong>Bangladesh optimistic over Shakib</strong></h2>

<p>“He had a good batting session yesterday and did a little bit of running between the wickets as well. We did a scan today, we are waiting for the result. At the moment, he is okay,” Hathurusingha said on the eve of the contest.</p>

<p>It is understood that he has not yet bowled in the nets which could come as a blow for the Men in Green. Shakib has been a prime contributor for Bangladesh with both bat and ball and has scored 55 runs. On the bowling side, he has five wickets in three matches which highlights his importance to the team.</p>

<p>“We haven't tried with him bowling yet. We will assess him again and we will make a decision. If he is not ready to play, we won't risk him. But if he is ready, then there is a chance of him playing tomorrow,” Hathurusingha added.</p>

But I think we had a clear chat with him (Shami), whenever we select a squad, the messages from us are very clear. We pick a squad which feel is best for that wicket. Sometimes, you will miss out. Someone like him will miss out, someone like Ash will miss out, that's a communication that we have with him. That's very clear. It's a difficult decision with the quality that he brings to the team with the new ball, at the death. No doubt, it's a difficult decision but you have to take that call. CWC '23: Have never seen Ashwin grumpy after being benched - India's bowling coach lauds star spinner

<p>Afghanistan bowler Azmatullah Omarzai, during the ODI World Cup 2023 game against New Zealand in Chennai, bowled a perfect full-length delivery to send back Rachin Ravidra packing. The ball by Omarzai went past Ravindra's defence and sent his middle stump flying as Kiwis lost their second wicket.</p>

<p>After the match, Walter said in the post-match press conference, "I guess that's why we love sport. Four days ago, we played outstandingly well, and then today, not well. Asked to bowl first, Australia rode on Adam Zampa's four-fer and two wickets apiece from captain Cummins and Mitchell Starc to dismiss the Lankans for a paltry 209 in 43.3 overs before chasing the total in 35.3 overs courtesy of fifties from Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During Australia's run-chase, they were in trouble with a poor start. From 24 for no loss, they were soon reduced to 24 for 2 in four overs, with Dilshan Madushanka striking twice in a double-wicket maiden over. However, Warner's dismissal made heads turn.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was a back-of-a-length delivery that angled in towards leg and hit Warner on the knee roll as he tried to flick it on the onside. Initially, it seemed as if the ball was going down the leg which prompted the veteran to challenge&nbsp;umpire Joel Wilson's decision. Nonetheless, replays showed that the ball was just hitting the leg stump and, thus, Warner had to make the long walk back to the pavilion due to the umpire's call. This wasn't well received by Warner and he hit his pads and was seen swearing at the umpire while going back.</p>

<p>Australia finally managed to get on the points table with a win over Sri Lanka on October 16 in Lucknow. The five-wicket win, however, wasn't easy as the Aussies were made to work hard for it. Former Australia player and WION's cricket expert Dav Whatmore also agreed that they (Australians) had a bit of a scare early on but played sufficiently enough to win.</p>

<p>"It is a little bit of confidence that they were searching for and it wasn't easy to win early on. They had to fight for it. And they played sufficiently well enough to get the win. They had a little scare at the start with their bowling and a scare with their batting but they prevailed and that's a good thing," said Whatmore.</p>

<p>Talking about how Australia can build upon this win, Whatmore said their next game against Pakistan would be important and they are going to turn it around.</p>

<p>"Australia pacers haven't returned the same (from the breaks) in the matter of wickets or performance that they would have hoped for. They need to be little more consistent, they have the ability to do that that's the difference so I am expecting strong performance. Again, you are playing against world class players on very good batting pitch (at the Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru) so won't be easy either," he said.</p>

<p>On the question of if Australia are lacking one more specialist spinner apart from Adam Zampa: "If the fast bowlers were getting wickets up front you don't need another spinner. These things get exposed when everyone's job is not done as well as it could be."</p>

CWC 2023: Ganguly slams Pak's batting unit, says 'will be hard' for them to come back post India drubbing

<p>Australia finally got their first win of the ODI World Cup 2023 after beating Sri Lanka by five wickets on October 16 in Lucknow. The five-time champions had previously lost to India in their opening game and then against South Africa as well. They had an early scare during the game against Sri Lanka as well but eventually came out triumphant.</p>

<p>The Aussie bowlers were ineffective early on as Sri Lanka added 125 runs for the first wicket while batting first but the bowlers pulled things back and brought them down to 178/5. Mitchell Starc, the fearsome left-arm bowler, who was off colour during the early overs, struck back to send Dhananjaya de Silva back as the fifth wicket.</p>

<p>Starc also bowled that 41st over of the innings with Sri Lanka eight down and bowled his trademark 'toe crushing' yorker to rattle the stumps of Lahiru Kumara. Have a look at the video of the dismissal below:</p>

<p>ICC Chairman Greg Barclay, commenting on the matter, shrugged off Arthur's statement as mere criticism that every World Cup edition faces.</p>

<p>"Every event that we have, there's always criticism&nbsp;from various quarters," Barclay was quoted as saying by AFP on the sidelines of the International Olympic Committee Session in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What did Arthur say?</strong></h2>

<p>Fresh after the loss against India, Arthur said the blur of blue at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad felt like playing at a BCCI event, instead of an ICC event.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It didn't seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) event," said Arthur.</p>

<p>Arthur accused the stadium's public address system organisers of favouring India by refusing to play "Dil Dil Pakistan", the nation's unofficial anthem.</p>

<p>"I didn't hear 'Dil Dil Pakistan' ('My heart is Pakistan') coming through too often tonight. So yes, that does play a role, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse."</p>

<p>Arthur, however, signed off by admitting that&nbsp;Pakistan's 'timid' playing style was perhaps the reason for the side's downfall.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I thought we were a little bit timid. I did think we could probably have taken on the Indian spinners just a little bit more," said Arthur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I think we've got to realise that there are two ways to always skin a cat. And we've had success by taking it deep and then cashing in at the back end but we couldn't do that."</p>

<p>Pakistan were completely outplayed by India in the match with the latter retaining an envious unbeaten record in World Cup encounters and extending it to 8-0 wins.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been in superb form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 with the joint-most wickets (8) so far. The bowler had returned to the national side just ahead of the quadrennial tournament and has been India's gun weapon in all three games.</p>

<p>Talking to ICC's Digital Inside Tanvi Shah after India's seven-wicket win over Pakistan, Bumrah put aside any injury concerns or pressure of the job and said that he's doing what he wanted to do as a child.</p>

<p>"I don't really look at it as pressure or responsibility because as a child I wanted to be a cricketer,” Bumrah said in Ahmedabad.</p>

<p>"I wanted to play for India. I wanted to do the difficult job. I wanted to make my team win. So that is what I'm doing.</p>
