Two terrorists have been killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in the general area of Passerkut, Kishtwar on Sunday. The encounter took place following intelligence reports indicating the presence of two to three foreign terrorists in the region. According to officials, the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a terrorist hideout in the area.&nbsp;&nbsp;Troops of 47 Rashtriya Rifles, 31 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), and 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles jointly launched the search operation in the general area of Putusai, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sogam. The area was first cordoned off to prevent any movement, following which a thorough search was conducted. The operation began in the morning hours and continued till the evening amid tight security arrangements.&nbsp;During the systematic search of the area, security forces detected and busted a concealed hideout used by terrorists to store arms and ammunition. A cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the spot. The seized items included 34 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 18 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, one pistol magazine, one Pakistani hand grenade, four Chinese grenades, and one ammunition pouch.&nbsp;Officials said the recovery has dealt a significant blow to terrorist logistics and their operational capability in the area, as the hideout was allegedly being used to stockpile weapons for future attacks. Some of them have been in jail for five to six years without trial,” she said, adding that such treatment violates basic legal principles.&nbsp;She noted that courts had acknowledged the prisoners’ status as undertrials but failed to provide relief. According to Mufti, the High Court dismissed a petition seeking intervention and instead asked the affected individuals to file cases themselves. “How will they do it when they don’t even have the resources to reach the courts?” she asked.&nbsp;Mufti claimed that around 1,260 people from Kashmir are currently lodged in various jails, many of whom remain unidentified and unsupported. Mehbooba Mufti raises concern over undertrials lodged outside Kashmir

In a major success against the terror network, Police in Awantipora along with security forces busted a terrorist hideout linked to the proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and arrested a terrorist associate involved in supporting terrorists. Acting on credible input regarding the presence of terrorists in Naner Midoora, Police in a joint operation with 42 RR and 180 BN CRPF, launched a cordon and search operation in the said area. During the search, one terrorist associate identified as Nazir Ahmed Ganai son of Abdul Aziz Ganai resident of Ganai Mohalla Nanar, affiliated with JeM, was arrested.&nbsp;During sustained questioning, and on his disclosure, a terrorist hideout located in the orchards belonging to the accused was uncovered and subsequently busted. From the hideout, security forces recovered 2 hand grenades, 1 detonator, and explosive-like material, all of which were seized for further analysis. Acting on credible input regarding the presence of terrorists in Naner Midoora, Police in a joint operation with 42 RR and 180 BN CRPF, launched a cordon and search operation in the said area. During the search, one terrorist associate identified as Nazir Ahmed Ganai son of Abdul Aziz Ganai resident of Ganai Mohalla Nanar, affiliated with JeM, was arrested. During sustained questioning, and on his disclosure, a terrorist hideout located in the orchards belonging to the accused was uncovered and subsequently busted. The Jammu & Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Faridabad Police, have foiled a terror plot by recovering around 350 kilograms of explosives, an AK-47 rifle, and a large cache of ammunition from a rented accommodation in Dhauj village, Faridabad. The seized explosives were identified as ammonium nitrate, enough to make several high-intensity improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
