Celebrated Japanese photographer Kishin Shinoyama, known for capturing an iconic photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono just months before Lennon's tragic death in 1980, has died at the age of 83. According to the reports, the celebrated photographer suddenly fell ill on Thursday and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead. The cause of his death has not been revealed yet to the public.

Shinoyama spent five days with the celebrity couple and captured what would later become one of the last images of Lennon. Many might not know the fact that it was Shinoyama's idea for the couple to share a kiss during the shoot, resulting in the iconic photograph that would grace the cover of their album, "Double Fantasy."

Reflecting on the moments he spent with Lennon and his ladylove, Shinoyama once said, "I think it was their happiest moment. I was fortunate to have been there and feel privileged to have captured the moment."

The photographer, born in Tokyo in 1940, studied photography at Nihon University. He began his journey as a freelancer in 1968, after stints in advertising production. Known for his energetic and sometimes controversial work, Shinoyama's portfolio includes artistic nude photography of women and capturing star actresses like Rie Miyazawa and Kanako Higuchi.

The anticipation for the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan season 8 reaches new heights as the show teases an exciting guest lineup featuring none other than the iconic mother-son duo, Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan.

In the much-awaited promo, Sharmila and Saif are seen gracing the Koffee With Karan sofa, dressed in matching black attire. Sharmila starts by expressing her curiosity and anticipation as admits she's unsure of what to expect from her debut on the renowned talk show.

The interaction takes a delightful turn as Karan delves into the mother-son relationship, prompting Sharmila to recall the last time she reprimanded Saif. While she grapples with memory, Saif humorously quips that the moment happened a minute ago and they both broke into a burst of laughter.

Amidst lighthearted banter, Karan prods Saif about the influence of his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, on him. As Saif struggles to interpret the question, Karan reassures him that it's not as provocative as perceived.

Later, Karan is seen pressing Sharmila to divulge an intriguing untold story from Saif's college days. With a mischievous glint, Sharmila narrates a memorable incident from Saif's time in England, hinting at a rendezvous with an air hostess.

Sharmila said, "He didn't go to the university. He asked the air hostess out and they went out somewhere." Saif interfered and said, "Very exaggerated."

The playful exchange between Saif and Sharmila continued, with Saif teasingly questioning if the purpose of their presence on the Koffee With Karan couch was solely to expose "embarrassing" anecdotes about him.

While sharing the captivating promo on Instagram, KJo wrote, "A royal brew is on the menu for this week! Catch the mother-son duo, Sharmila Tagore & Saif Ali Khan on the latest episode of #KoffeeWithKaranS8."

He asked the air hostess out and they went out somewhere." Saif interfered and said, "Very exaggerated." The playful exchange between Saif and Sharmila continued, with Saif teasingly questioning if the purpose of their presence on the Koffee With Karan couch was solely to expose "embarrassing" anecdotes about him. While sharing the captivating promo on Instagram, KJo wrote, "A royal brew is on the menu for this week! Catch the mother-son duo, Sharmila Tagore & Saif Ali Khan on the latest episode of #KoffeeWithKaranS8." Check it out below!
Renowned music maestro, AR Rahman, made a humble yet significant entrance at the Nagore Dargah in Nagapattinam by arriving in an auto-rickshaw to partake in the revered Kanduri festival. Sporting a maroon kurta, the Oscar-winning musician joined the festivities of the 14-day Kandhuri Festival, also recognised as the Nagore Dargah Festival. This annual celebration spans from the first to the fourteenth day of Hazrath Syed Shahul Hamid's death anniversary, observed during the Islamic month of Jamathul Aagir.

The festival commemorates the legacy of Hazrath Syed Shahul Hamid, who was a revered 13th-generation descendant of Sufi Saint Muhiyudin Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani. He achieved wider recognition for treating the physical illness of Thanjavur's 16th-century Hindu king Achuthappa Nayak. This historic significance allures the peculiar participation of Hindu devotees during the Kandhuri Festival.

Traditionally, the festival starts with the hoisting of a sacred flag, followed by a procession carrying it to the Nagore Dargah. Subsequent days involve Quran readings, prayers, and the display of the Light of Allah at the Dargah, attracting devout followers.

On the eighth day, the Kandhuri Festival's fireworks display is one of its many attractions. The fireworks have two purposes - first, to enhance the festive atmosphere, and second, to represent how truth drives away falsehood.

On the ninth day of Jamaidul Akhir, the Fakirs visit the site of Hazarath Mohsin meditation site called the "Peer Mandapam". On this occasion, the devotees start a holy fast for the next three days.

On the tenth day, a parade-like chariot ride carrying sandalwood paste is organised. The Rawla Shariff and the Great Saint's tomb get anointed with the auspicious paste.

The fast that was initiated on the ninth day of the festival is ended by the devotees on the eleventh day. The Al Quran's message is recited throughout the 14 days, and its blessings are given to the Great Soul.

In a separate event, AR Rahman recently honoured the UAE's 52nd National Day in Abu Dhabi, unveiling a "song of hope". Alongside a 52-member all-female Firdaus Orchestra, Rahman paid tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

During the event, Rahman expressed his aspirations for the song to bring peace and joy while commemorating the efforts of those tirelessly working for the betterment of others. At the event, he shared, "The idea is to create a song of hope. This is a song to honour everyone who is selflessly working. The world needs hope today. I hope the song brings peace, understanding, and joy. My prayers to all the people who need to get healed in this hospital." (With inputs from agencies)

Rapper Travell “G. Dep” Coleman, who walked into a New York police precinct in 2010 and admitted to committing a nearly two-decade-old cold case murder to clear his conscience, has been granted clemency by Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Now 49, Coleman has served 13 of a 15-year-to-life sentence. With his sentence being commuted by the Democratic governor, he will now be allowed to seek parole earlier than his original 2025 date.

Coleman is one of 16 individuals granted clemency by Hochul in an announcement made Friday. They include 12 pardons and four commutations. It marked the third time Hochul was granted clemency in 2023.

“Through the clemency process, it is my solemn responsibility as governor to recognize the efforts individuals have made to improve their lives and show that redemption is possible,” Hochul said in a written statement.

The rapper earned an associate’s degree while in prison and facilitated violence prevention and sobriety counseling programs, while also participating in a variety of educational and rehabilitative classes, according to Hochul’s office. His clemency application was supported by the prosecutor in the case and the judge who sentenced him.

But his career slumped after his 2001 debut album, “Child of the Ghetto,” and the rapper became mired in drug use and low-level arrests, his lawyer said in 2011.

Amidst whispers and speculation, some reports have confirmed the end of Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka's long-standing relationship. The 54-year-old singer-songwriter and her partner, a 40-year-old backup dancer, have reportedly parted ways.

Speculation initially arose when Tanaka abruptly stopped joining Carey on her Merry Christmas One and All! tour in mid-November, triggering rumours that intensified due to the couple's absence from significant events and their dwindling presence on social media.

A source close to the couple told Page Six that the two broke up because they wanted different things in life. The source further cited that the huge age gap between Carey, 54, and Tanaka, 40, also played a major role in their separation.

As per the insider, “He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at.” Notably, Carey shares two children, Moroccan and Monroe, with her ex-husband Nick Cannon.

All members of BTS, including Jin, J-Hope, Suga, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook, have officially started their mandatory military service in South Korea. Their enlistment has ignited global interest, particularly regarding the demanding military training procedures they will undergo, which includes the gas chamber, the obstacle course and the gruelling marches.

One of the most rigorous challenges in South Korea's military training is the gas chamber challenge, known as the Hwasaengbang.

The Hwasaengbang gained public attention through its appearance on shows like Real Men and Infinite Challenge, which showed soldiers enduring intense exercises in a gas-filled room without masks. Some struggled with the tasks, leading to instances of fainting.

With each BTS member now enlisted, speculation arises regarding whether they will all undergo this rigorous training. Earlier images of Jin at the Hwasaengbang camp depict soldiers practising in an actual gas chamber. A picture shows Jin washing his face, a common post-training routine.

Since Suga has been deemed "unfit for regular combat duty" and has been chosen to serve as a social service agent in the South Korean military, he won't have to go through the gas chamber training, however, other remaining members might soon begin the rigorous training in their country.

Japanese media outlet Nippoin News Network reacted to South Korea's tough military practices, mentioning that BTS members need to complete various training, including entering gas-filled rooms without masks.

Meanwhile, several netizens from South Korea who have undergone the task during their military service recently took to social media to share their experiences online.

A netizen wrote, “It's a CBR (chemical, biological + radiological) and a grenade drill. They put on a gas mask to enter and exit a gas chamber. It's part of the training programme.” Another one said “Yeah, I was medically retired a few years ago. Trust me, if I could go through the gas chamber in basic training and be fine and sure Jin will be more than okay.”

A third post read, "I'm pretty sure he is not gotta want us to see him go through it. As someone who has gone through military training, it really sucks.
