Formula One: Haas driver Kevin Magnussen nearing race-ban after collision in Miami Grand Prix

Haas Formula One team driver Kevin Magnussen is just two points away from a race ban after his collision at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday (May 5). Magnussen's car (#20) collided with Williams driver Logan Sargeant after he tangled with Sargeant midway in the race. The incident brought out the safety cars which eventually were helpful for Lando Norris' maiden Formula One win.
Magnussen was given a 10-second penalty along with two penalty points as well, which brought his total penalty points to 10 for a 12-month rolling period. A driver gets suspended for one race after accumulating 12 points and Magnussen now has to drive with utmost care in the remaining races as his points do not expire till April next year.

The race stewards were also clear on who to blame in the incident involving Sargeant and Magnussen and said: "It was clear that Car 20 did not have its front axle in that position such that it was entitled to room in that corner. Further, if this is looked at purely as an overtaking of the inside of Turn 3, Car 20 would also not have had the right to the corner, by the standards for an inside overtake."
"Even if this was viewed as a sequence of corners or a chicane, the decision remains the same. Per the guidelines, priority will be given to the first corner and if you do not have the right to be given room, then you do not get the benefit for the next corner."
"Car 20 was therefore wholly to blame for the collision that occurred."

As for the race, Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second behind McLaren's Norris while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished third in the race. Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. finished fourth while Red Bull's Sergio Perez completed top five.
