Congress President Rahul Gandhi's tweet targeting Union Minister Piyush Goyal has landed him in trouble after the Shirdi Trust expressed reservations over his reference to the resting place of Shirdi Saibaba.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier in the day tweeted: "Mitron, “Shirdi ke chamatkaro” ki toh koi “Seema” hi nahi hai." (Friends, there are no ‘boundaries’ of the ‘miracles of Shirdi’).

In his tweet, Rahul Gandhi had attacked Piyush Goyal and his wife insinuating that their company had reaped unnatural gains in recent years.

Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, however, did not amuse the Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan Trust. Dr Suresh Haware, who is the Chairman of the trust, was quite displeased at the snide remark involving the famous pilgrimage site.

Dr Haware, in a tweet, demanded that the Congress leader should apologise to the followers of Shirdi for insulting the deity.

"Rahulji, it is unfortunate to drag the name of Shirdi for political gains. Saibhakts from around the world is hurt by it your tweet. We condemn it on behalf of all Saibhakts. You should apologise," Haware tweeted.

Many political leaders andindividuals have also expressed displeasure over the insensitive remark.
