At least four schools received bomb threats in Rajasthan's Jaipur and several others in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Monday (May 13), following which students and staff were evacuated as a safety measure. Schools in both states received the bomb threat via email, as per reports.

In Lucknow's Gomti Nagar, school officials quickly moved all students to the playgrounds and alerted parents to come and pick up their wards. Jaipur schools alerted the police which swiftly deployed its squads at the locations.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph reportedly said, "Four-five schools have received bomb threat. Police have reached the schools." 

As part of the investigation into the received threat, a team of police officials is trying to identify the sender of the email. Among the four Jaipur schools placed on high alert are St Teresa's School, MPS School, Manak Chowk School, and Vidyashram School.

This comes a day after a bomb threat was received by Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and the city's multiple hospitals. The initial threat in Jaipur schools was reported at MPS School in Moti Dungri at 6 am. Afterward, more alerts were received by the police from schools in Vidyadhar Nagar, Manak Chowk, Vaishali Nagar, and Niwaru Road in Bagru, as per media reports.

The Jaipur Police Commissioner also confirmed that the students in the schools have been sent home safely.

“We received information regarding bomb threats targeting schools. In response, we deployed our police force and bomb squad teams to the affected locations," he said. 

Similar threats in Delhi, Ahmedabad

Seven schools in Gujarat's Ahmedabad received bomb threats sent via email on May 6. Similar threats were received on May 1 by over 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region. Media reports citing officials said that threats to Delhi schools were sent by a Russia-based mailing service. While bomb threats to hospitals were sent by a Europe-based mailing service company 'beeble.com'. The sender ID was [email protected]. The officials are trying to spot the IP address of the sender.

Pertaining to the threat received at IGI Airport, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Usha Rangnani said, "The Security Operations Control Centre at IGI Airport has received a threat email concerning an explosive device within the premises. Enhanced security protocols are now in effect, and safety measures have been intensified. Legal action has been initiated. No suspicious items have been found as of now."
