Malone took to the stage in a white Dallas Cowboys jersey, while his band sported bright blue versions of the NFL uniform. He opened with a country classic before seamlessly transitioning into his newly released single, "I Had Some Help," originally featuring Morgan Wallen.

Though Wallen did not join him for the performance, the surprise acapella rendition of The Allman Brothers Band's "Ramblin' Man" with host Reba McEntire left the audience in awe.

Following the performance, Malone humorously confessed to Bobby Bones backstage, "My bootyhole was clenched the entire performance."

Malone's shift to country music had been eagerly awaited since he first hinted at his collaboration with Wallen on social media in March. Fans were ecstatic when the two performed the song live for the first time at Stagecoach weeks later. Malone further showcased his country music affinity at the festival by performing a set of covers with Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, and Dwight Yoakam.

While this was Malone's first ACM performance, he is no stranger to the country music scene. He appeared at the 2023 CMA Awards to honour the late Joe Diffie, delivering renditions of "John Deere Green" and "Pickup Man" alongside Wallen and HARDY.

In an April livestream on Twitch, Malone revealed plans for a country album. "Country record is coming. I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville. It's so f---ing sick, but it's not out," he shared, according to Billboard.

Although an official announcement about the album is yet to be made, Malone has already garnered support from country music stars like Wynonna Judd. In an October 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Judd praised Malone's live performance, calling it "one of the best shows I've ever seen."

She added, "If you go see his shows, you know, it's real easy to judge the book by the cover and all this stuff that you hear. He's got the most tender heart, he's got a baby, he's in love, he's happy, he's pretty darn normal in a sense because he's very present."
