There’s an exciting new update for fans of Peaky Blinders as makers are keen on getting the film started. The new film will be based on the hit show that was led by Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy, whom we last saw in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Makers have now roped in Dune and Mission: Impossible actor Rebecca Ferguson in the Peaky Blinders film. Of course, Cillian will also star in the film.
Meanwhile, Rebecca is the first high-profile name approved for the film. Details about her role and the scope of what is being kept under wraps.
Cillian Murphy will be seen in the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family,first reported by Deadline last month. It will be a Netflix film.
The Peaky Blinders film will have Tom Harper as director from a script by the show'screator Steven Knight. Producers are Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Meanwhile, ExecutiveProducers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
The feature will be made in association with BBC Film.
There is no news on the plot so far. What we do know is that the film will be set during World War II. Production is expected to begin this year.
Rebecca Ferguson was most recently seen as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. She is also well known for starring opposite Tom Cruise in three Mission: Impossible films.
