Rohit Shetty took all the precautions to save his movie Singham Again from hot waters. This Diwali, Shetty brought some action to the theatre with the fifth movie of his cop universe and the third instalment in the Singham franchise.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh among others. While the audience enjoyed a bunch of star appearances, they were left disappointed as there was not a single scene of Ranveer and Deepika together.
Answering this, Shetty said that it was a conscious decision taken as the movie was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana andRanveer's character was inspired by Lord Hanuman.
During his interview with News18, Shetty said that they were very conscious about everything as the movie was emotionally connected with the Ramayana.
''We were worried throughout the making. Star cast and action were on one side. But what we were alert and conscious about was not going wrong because we're all emotionally connected with the Ramayan. Not hurting anyone's sentiment was the biggest task for us," he said.
Explaining further, Shetty added that he wished to have a scene of thereal-life couple in the movie, but Ranveer's character ofACP Sangram Simmba Bhalerao was a reflection of Hanuman. And, he didn't want to take any chance.
"I would have loved to do that... but, because we were dealing with Ranveer as Lord Hanuman's character... he was a reflection of Hanuman Ji's character and it would have gone wrong for us. So, we were worried about that. Everyone on the set questioned that if we can have a banter between Akshay Kumar and Ranveer, why can't we also have a banter between Ranveer and Deepika? Could have done in a better way, but it was a conscious decision," he concluded.
Released on Nov. 1, Singham Again is earning fantastic numbers at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the movie has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India. So far,the movie has raked in Rs 206.75 crore in India and Rs 313 crore worldwide.
