IPL 2024: 'I've given up...,' says SRH skipper Pat Cummins after 549-run fest vs RCB

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins says he has given up on reading pitches after his side posted the highest total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the second time in the ongoing season. SRH posted 287/3 in 20 overs - the highest in the league history - days after scoring 277/3 against Mumbai Indians.
Speaking after the match, Cummins said: "It feels like you bowl an over for seven or eight feels great. I've given up trying to read the pitches."
Cummins also expressed a bit of surprise at SRH bettering their record of highest IPL total by a team within days and said: "Against Mumbai a few weeks ago I thought it won't happen again, but it has happened again."

On a night when most of the bowlers went for more than 50 runs in their four-over spell, Cummins stood out with a spell of 3/43 but said cheekily that he'd want a few more years before 'bowlers go extinct'.
The question was posed after the match saw 549 runs being scored across two innings - the most in a T20 match ever. The skipper, however, is happy with the results his team is getting.

"Really happy with our cricket, four wins now, the freedom with which the batters are going out to play is great and few wily bowlers doing the job as well," added Cummins.
As for RCB, they started off with a blaze as Virat Kohli and Fafdu Plessis scored 80 runs in 6.1 overs before Mayank Markande clean-bowled Kohli with a googly. RCB always needed something special to win the game but once Kohli departed, the chase derailed.
They were soon 122/5 at midway when Karthik and Mahipal Lomror took over. The duo added 59 runs in 25 balls to give RCB a sniff but the target was too much to handle. RCB, though posted highest total in a chase, fell short by 25 runs despite scoring 262/7.
