North Carolina's Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson has sued CNN over the network's claims that the leader posted explicit sexual and racial comments on a pornography site. At a press conference on Tuesday (Oct 15), Robinson characterised the network’s reporting as a "high-tech lynching," and said that the allegations were false and politically motivated.
CNN's 'Black Nazi' report
Robinson's lawsuit comes less than a month after a CNN report that detailed explicit posts allegedly made by Robinson on a pornography website called "Nude Africa."
In these posts, he purportedly referred to himself as a "black NAZI," and said he preferred Adolf Hitler over the-then-President Barack Obama and made derogatory comments about Martin Luther King Jr., describing him as "worse than a maggot."
These revelations have led several Republican officials, including Donald Trump, to distance themselves from Robinson.

In its reporting, CNN stated that Robinson used his full name and an email address consistent with his long-standing online activity to post the graphic content on the Nude Africa site. The network noted that it shared only a "small portion" of Robinson's comments due to their graphic nature, leading to widespread outrage and concern among voters and political figures alike.
Robinson fights back
Fighting back, Robinson's legal team claimed that the email address cited by CNN as linked to the porn site had been compromised.
The lawsuit argues that CNN published the report "chose to publish despite knowing or recklessly disregarding that Lt. Gov. Robinson's data — including his name, date of birth, passwords, and the email address supposedly associated with the Nude Africa account — were previously compromised by multiple data breaches".

Robinson's lead attorney, Jesse Binnall, as per Al Jazeera, added that "Lt. Gov. Robinson has always said that these allegations are completely false. Our investigation has shown that he's quite frankly right about that."
Meanwhile, Robinson labelled the report "political interference" of the worst kind in the state's history, particularly with the November 5 election approaching.
Robinson and North Carolina polls
According to reports, Robinson is currently trailing his Democratic opponent, Josh Stein, in the North Carolina polls by a significant margin.
Polls have indicated that Robinson is losing ground to Stein, North Carolina's sitting attorney general. Early in-person voting in the state begins on Thursday, with over 50,000 absentee ballots already submitted.
