Iran's neighbours won't allow use of their 'soil or airspace' for any attack against Tehran: Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday (Oct 22) that his country's neighbours pledged that they would not allow the use of their "soil or airspace" for any attack, as Israel weighed a retaliation for Tehran's October 1 missile strike.
Speaking to reports in Kuwait, Foreign Minister Araghchi said, "All our neighbours have assured us that they won't allow their soil orairspaceto be used against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Before Kuwait, Araghchi was in Bahrain on Monday as part of a regional tour that has also taken him to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Egypt and Turkey, a report by the news agency AFP said.

'If Israel attacks Iran in any form...'
Araghchi told reporters in Kuwait that Iran was monitoring closely the movements ofAmerican bases in the region and was aware of all their movements and flights.
"If Israel attacks Iran in any form, Iran will respond in the same format," he added.
The foreign minister also repeated Tehran's warningsagainst Israel not to attack its nuclear facilities.
"Attacking nuclear sites is a big international crime; even threatening (to attack) nuclear sites is a crime and against international rights," Araghchi said.

"To defend ourselves and our nuclear sites, we have our own tools and methods, and we count on them," he added.
'Iran welcomes any nation's efforts to stop Israel's war crimes'
Araghchi's comments came a day after his ministry said that Iran welcomed any countryseeking to halt Israel's war crimes in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon while condemning the United States' military support for Israel.
"Iranalways welcomes any country seeking to halt Israel's commission of war crimes and acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said during a routine press briefing in Tehran.
Baghaei condemned the fact that with the support of the United States, Israel was instigating war in the region and escalating the conflict at all costs, resulting in a continuous escalation of tensions in the region.
