
The death toll due to coronavirus in Iran jumped to 6,091 after health ministry reported 64 new deaths in the last 24 hours on Friday.
While the number of coronavirus infections rose to 95,646 including 2,899 in critical condition, ministry spokesperson Kianush Jahapur said in an official statement on state tv.
Iran, one of the worst-hit countries from coronavirus in the Middle Eastern region, has shut schools, universities, cinemas and stadiums among other public spaces since March to contain the spread of the virus.
But since April 11, it has allowed a phased reopening of its economy and lifted restrictions on intercity travel.

Mosques remain closed even as Muslims observe the fasting month of Ramadan.
According to Health Minister Saeed Namaki, his ministry is devising health protocols to allow Friday and group prayers to recommence in cities that have been given the all-clear.
Group prayers have been banned in the Islamic republic as a high-risk activity since mid-March.
The daily toll since April 14 has been below hundred prompting authorities to open shops and parks in order to allow people to go about their business, however, the threat of the virus hasn't passed.
Iran president had earlier said that regions will be marked with white, yellow and red based on the number of infections and deaths.
