A three-year-old golden tiger living in a zoo in Thailand has emerged as the newest sensation after it made its debut on the social media platform on November 19. The tiger is now rivalling the baby pygmy hippo, Moo Deng.

The photos of the golden baby tiger Ava were shared by the Chiang Mai Night Safari in northern Thailand on its Facebook page and received more than 34,000 likes and 24,000 shares in just two days.

Ava made her debut three weeks after her sister Luna, although the birth date of the two is the same which is February 16, 2021.

In July 2015, the parents of the tiger were brought to the safari park from South Africa and the Czech Republic.

Their species was introduced by the zoo as golden tigers, which was a rare variant of the Bengal tiger. The visitors are now able to see Ava and Luna at the Tiger World zone of the safari park between 11 am and 2 pm local time.

According to their caretakers, Ava is sociable and playful and has a friendly nature towards children.

“Her face is so sweet,” wrote one commenter on Facebook.

“She looks so clean, as if she takes 10 baths a day,” commented another.

“First Moo Deng, now Ava? Thailand is winning the cutest animals award,” wrote a third user on Instagram.

The tiger is giving competition in popularity to baby pygmy hippo Moo Deng who has been an international sensation since September.

Moo Deng lives in Khao Kheow Open Zoo in eastern Thailand and his popularity led to a boost in the ticket sales of the zoo by 19.2 million baht (US$587,000) between September 1 and 25.

The account dedicated to the family of the hippo has 614,000 followers on Instagram and a 24/7 live-stream of Moo Deng’s quarters is offered by the zoo for its fans.
