Six-week-old mauled to death by family dog while sleeping in crib

A husky that a family owned for eight years mauled their six-week-old baby to death while he was sleeping in his crib. The baby wasn't crying at the time of the attack that took place around a week back in their Knoxville, Tennessee, home.Baby Ezra Mansoor succumbed to his injuries on Thursday (May 30).
“Being Ezra’s mom was the biggest honour and the best thing I’ve ever done,” the infant’s mother Chloe Mansoor told WVLT.
The infant had been in critical condition in the hospital for nearly a week before he passed away on Thursday. Among his life-threatening injuries were a brain bleed and brain swelling.
Speaking to local media outlets, the baby's parents,Mark Mansoor and Chloe Mansoor, warned others about leaving babies alone with pets.

Chloe told WBIR that while "you just think it would never happen to you, it can happen to anyone, with any dog breed, no matter how long you've had the dog."
The dog was one of two the family owned and had never been aggressive or shown signs of such a behaviour before. The family said the baby was not even crying when the attack happened, calling it completely "unprovoked".
"Ezra was just asleep in his crib — not crying or anything. And she just attacked out of nowhere."
Baby Ezra Mansoor's organs to be donated
According to an online fundraiser, Ezra’s parents have decided to donate his organs tohelp other babies in need.
“One should never take anything for granted even if it’s a moment you’re annoyed in the moment or frustrated in. All of those little moments are still so amazing,” Chloe Mansoor told the outlet.
Asking for everyone to pray for them, Chloe said, “Pray for all the family really, everyone loved him so much. I know everyone’s grieving right now, we’re grieving right now, and it’s going to be a lifelong process trying to work through this."
The husky has been sent to an animal shelter
The familyhusky has been sent to an animal shelter whilethe Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducts an investigation.
"Young-Williams Animal Center is holding an adult dog following an incident in which an infant was reported to have been injured in Knoxville on May 24, 2024. The dog is under a 10-day bite quarantine as required by state law,” a statement released by the organisation read.
