The pet-animal conflict in the gated colonies of Delhi and the National Capital Region continues with both sides continuing to bear the consequences of a conflicted co-existence. In the latest incident, a young girl was attacked by a pet dog inside the lift of a building in a society in Gautam Buddha Nagar, colloquially called Noida, near New Delhi.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed inside the lift. 

What does the video show?

The video captured by the CCTV shows a girl inside the lift. As soon as the doors of the lift open on an unspecified floor, a brown pet dog enters the elevator and bites the girl. The young girl child was alone in the lift when she was bitten by the dog. As soon as the door of the lift closed, the girl started showing signs of suffering while holding her arm and crying due to pain.

The dog attack reportedly took place in the Lotus-300 society in Sector 107, Noida. The incident took place on May 3 but the video of the same came to light on Tuesday (May 7). It is now going viral on social media.

The latest development came a day after a five-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after being attacked by two pet Rottweiler dogs at a park in Chennai in southern India.

The Noida incident came less than two months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government recommended a ban on a number of dog breeds, including the Rottweiler, Pitbull, American Bulldog and others, considered to be dangerous.

The Centre's recommendation came in response to the massive increase in severe and fatal attacks by dogs of the breeds now deemed "dangerous".

However, the purported recommendation for a ban was subsequently revoked by a court in Kerala.
