When facing a charge of driving with a suspended licence, one might think the best course of action would be to avoid driving altogether. However, a Michigan man, Corey Harris, not only did otherwise but also live broadcasthimself breaking the law during a pre-trial hearing being held via Zoom.
On May 15, during the Washtenaw County District Court proceeding, Harris appeared on video driving a vehicle. He informed Judge J. Cedric Simpson that he was pulling into his doctor's office and needed a moment to park. The irony of the situation was not lost on the judge.
Judge Simpson, visibly stunned, inquired, "You stationary?" Harris responded affirmatively as he found a parking spot, stating, "Yes, I am," triumphantly.
Harris, 44, had been charged in October with driving on a suspended licence.
A video of the hilarious Zoom call is going viral on the internet. You can see it here:
In the video, Harris' lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Natalie Pate, can be heard requesting a case adjournment of three to four weeks.
To this, judge Simpson, visibly perplexed, asks, "This is a driver with a licence suspended?" and Pate confirms.

The judge then asks, "And he was just driving? And he didn't have a licence?" Pate affirmed once more, "That is correct, your honour".
It is at this moment that Harris realises his mistake. Visibly shocked, with his mouth agape, he stays silent, as Judge Simpson orders that his bond be revoked. The judge also instructed him to turn himself into the county jail by 6 pm, as Harris, in disbelief, sighed, "Oh, my God".
