
In a shocking incident in Moldova, police rescued a man who had been buried alive for four days. Officers were investigating the death of a 74-year-old woman, found in his home by a relative, when they heard muffled cries for help nearby. Upon digging, they discovered the entrance to a makeshift basement where a 62-year-old man had been locked up by a teenager. A police-released video captures the dramatic rescue. Local media reported that the incident occurred on May 13. The rescued man was conscious and had a neck injury. Police later arrested an 18-year-old from his home in Ustia, northwest Moldova, in connection with the case, as reported by Need To Know. When questioned, the teenager gave confusing answers, prompting the police to search his home for evidence. The 62-year-old man told police that he had been drinking with the teenager when an argument broke out. The teenager then attacked him with a knife, locked him in the basement, and covered the entrance with soil. Police also suspect that the teenager killed the elderly woman, likely on Sunday night or Monday morning. The teenager has been remanded in custody as police and prosecutors continue to investigate him for murder and attempted murder. If found guilty, he faces up to life in prison. According to the New York Post, Omar Bin Omran was rescued from his kidnapper's house after disappearing on his way to school in 1998.
Now 45, Omar was found in the basement beneath his neighbour's floor, resembling a sheep pen. The 61-year-old kidnapper, who lived alone, has been arrested.
A video circulating on social media shows the moment security forces rescued Omar on Sunday (May 12).

Who is he? Police were alerted to the situation when the brother of a neighbour hinted on social media that his sibling might be involved in the kidnapping, amidst a dispute over inheritance.
Upon searching the neighbour's residence, officials uncovered a hidden trapdoor beneath hay on the floor, behind which Omar was found, as per the Post report.
