Are you familiar with the show 'Black Mirror'? The dystopian show has some amazing pieces of technology. Now, China has unveiled technology that is reminiscent of the show. What is it? It's a robot dog equipped with an automatic rifle.
Unveiled during China's recent military drills with Cambodia, this cutting-edge technology has transformed man's best friend into a formidable weapon on the battlefield.
In a video released by state broadcaster CCTV, the robot dog can be seen walking, hopping, and conducting operations.

"It can serve as a new member in our urban combat operations, replacing our (human) members to conduct reconnaissance and identify (the) enemy and strike the target," a soldier identified as Chen Wei told the broadcaster.
The two-minute video available online was shot during the China-Cambodia "Golden Dragon 2024" exercise.
It demonstrated the robot dog's ability to walk, hop, lie down, and move backwards, all controlled remotely.

The armed robot dog, in one scene, can be seen leading an infantry unit into a simulated building, highlighting its potential in urban combat. The video also featured a six-rotor aerial drone equipped with an automatic rifle, showcasing China's array of intelligent unmanned equipment.
While the use of robot dogs and drones in military operations is not new, China's recent display underscores the technological advancements in this area.
Last year, CCTV highlighted similar rifle-armed robot dogs in joint exercises involving multiple Southeast Asian nations.
Previously, the US Air Force has also integrated robotic dogs into its Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS). Since 2020, the US has been using artificial intelligence and rapid data analytics to enhance threat detection and response.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, there has been a widespread use of drones. Additionally, remotely controlled drones have been successfully used in the Israel war to target sophisticated military equipment like tanks and warships.
China, a leading drone exporter, imposed export controls on drone technology last year to protect national security. However, the robot dogs continue to garner attention, both domestically and internationally.
