A 26-year-old man happily got married to what he believed was love of his life in Indonesia but was left devastated 12days after marriage when he discovered that his wife was a man.

In this bizarre incident, the groom had been dating the scammer for more than a year and even then had failed to discover that he was in a relationship with a man.

The man had disguised himself as a woman to scam money from the groom. The news left netizens shocked on Chinese social media platforms, as manyof themwondered how the secretwas not bustedin the one year during which the couple had dated before getting married in April.

The husband hailed from Naringgul, which is a region on the island of Java. He had met a 26-year-old womanAdindaKanzaona social media platform in 2023.

After the couple hit off online, they quickly agreed to meeteach otherin person. The victim said that the scammer projected herself as a devout Muslim and always wore a hijabwhich covered her entire face when they met.

He said that he was not bothered about the hijab and saw it as a sign of her devotion to Islam.

As the two started planning their wedding, the scammer claimed that shedid not have any family who wouldattend the wedding.After this, the couple decided togo fora modest wedding ceremony at thevictim'shome on April 12.

The scammer also brought 5 grams of gold as dowry, however, the marriage was not officially registered by the couple.

How did the man find out about the scammer in the guise of a bride?

The man got suspicious about the bride 12 days after the wedding as he observed that she did not communicate with his family and wore her veiled attire even at home.

The bride also avoided intimacy with the groom as she gave various excuses ranging from menstrual cycle to feeling unwell.

After the groom decided to investigate the matter further, he found thebride'ssupposed family address.

He thenfound outthat the bride was not an orphan andbothher parents were alive.What was more shocking was that she was not a woman but a man who has been cross-dressing since 2020.

Thescammer'sparents also found that they werenot awareof their“son-in-law”.The police later informed the groom that the scammer had married him to steal hisfamily’sassets.

The scammer was arrested and is facing fraud charges and can face up to four years of imprisonment.
