Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 14 runs in match 25 of IPL 2023 edition on Tuesday (April 18) in Hyderabad. Asked to bat first, MI rode on Cameron Green's 40-ball 64 and Tilak Verma's 37 to post a daunting 192 for 5. In reply, Aiden Markram-led SRH posted 178 all-out in 19.5 overs.

Green, Australia's 23-year-old young star, didn't have a great start in the IPL but he came to his own versus SRH as MI earned their third win on the trot. Not just with the bat, Green also chipped in with the ball as he returned with 4-0-29-1 to be adjudged the Player-of-the-Match. After the game, former Indian pacer-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan lauded Green and predicted him to be the 'next superstar in world cricket'.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pathan said, "Cameron Green is going to be the next superstar in world cricket. He's a talented player and we are going to see more of him because he is raising his game with every passing day."

More applause came Green's way as Sachin Tendulkar, MI's team mentor, also lavished huge praise on him. Speaking in a video shared on MI's official social media handles, he said, "I think today [Tuesday] I learned something. And I feel that we have all picked the same message from Green. He can hit the ball as well as anyone in the team. But, the initial phase was a tough phase for him. And he did not let his ego come in the way. Ego is something that will always encourage you to do the wrong things. He did not."

At the post-match presentation, the Aussie star stated, "I think first couple of games were a learning curve for me and our team. Bit of a sticky situation (when I walked out to bat). But glad the plans came off. I am a work in progress with my bowling at the death. Obviously, we can continue with the winning momentum."

IPL 2023: Irfan Pathan names THIS MI player as 'the next superstar in world cricket'

Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody praised Mumbai Indians bowler Arjun Tendulkar for his last over against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but also said that he doesn't see him playing a death-over specialist's role.

Speaking to media website ESPNCricinfo after the match on Tuesday, Moody said, "I see his role potentially in the middle overs somewhere, if the timing is right. But certainly not a specialist at death. Having said that, he can walk away with that performance holding his head held high. He had tail to bowl to, had 20 runs, but we have seen going that pear-shaped as well. So, he has done well."

Moody, however, gave the young bowler full credit for executing his lines right in the last over but said that the decision to make him bowl the last over would have put him and skipper Rohit under enormous pressure.

"If you assess him purely on execution, he got it right. He got his line right, he bowled the side of the field that he was looking at, he got his length right, he got the number of deliveries close to yorker. It would've put him, as well as Rohit, in enormous pressure, because he (Rohit) wouldn't have been planning at the beginning of the innings that Arjun Tendulkar was going to be one of his death bowlers. He has clearly got a role in that side which is to bowl with a new ball, which he has done twice now," said Moody.

Arjun, bowling the last over of SRH's chase, had 20 to defend and he did so successfully while also taking his maiden IPL wicket. The bowler, who is son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, got Bhuvneshwar Kumar caught on the fifth ball of the last over to all-out SRH and for his first wicket.

The 14-run win against SRH was Mumbai's third in as many matches after having lost their initial two matches in the ongoing season.

<h2>SRH fail to impress</h2>

Asked to chase, 193 SRH lost last match’s centurion Harry Brook (9) after he departed early while Rahul Tripathi (7) also did not contribute significantly. Mayank Agarwal (48) and skipper Aiden Markram (22) then steadied the ship but were dismissed by Riley Meredith and Cameron Green respectively. Abhishek Sharma (1) and Abdul Samad (9) also departed without big contributions.

Towards the end, smart captaincy from Rohit Sharma and Tim David's excellence in the field with five wicket involvements saw Mumbai gain the upper hand. Heinrich Klaasen (36) and Washington Sundar (13) tried to make an impact before they were dismissed and SRH were restricted to 178/10 in 19.5 overs. Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawla ended with two wickets each while Arjun Tendulkar ended the SRH innings with his first wicket.

IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians register hat-trick of wins after stellar show from Cameron Green, beat SRH by 14 runs

Kolkata Knight Riders may have crossed 200-run mark thrice in this IPL but their bowling has been abysmal so far and they have conceded 200 twice and 185+ twice in five matches so far.

KKR skipper Nitish Rana also showed his frustration with the bowlers after their latest loss against Mumbai Indians at the post-match presentation, asking them to deliver.

Former KKR player, Yusuf Pathan, however, has questioned Nitish Rana's selection strategy. Notably, KKR kept Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav out and played Lockie Ferguson but didn't give him the new ball, which Pathan found strange.

"I was surprised as to why did he select Ferguson in the playing XI. If you are not going to give him the new ball, then why is he playing? He is now bowling that well, so maybe change him for someone else because his pace bowling attack is coming across as very weak", Pathan said after the match.

"Shardul Thakur, Ferguson and Umesh Yadav are there. Last season, Umesh was brilliant and showed good form. But he needs a wicket taking partner so that the entire pressure doesn't fall on him. If there is so much pressure on a fast bowler, then maybe even he won't be able to perform well. The other two pacers need to perform better. They should also check for other options," he added further.

Meanwhile, speaking to Ravi Shastri at the post match presentation after loss against MI, KKR skipper Rana said, "Definitely, I would like my bowling unit to deliver. One or two matches are fine... but it's happening for five matches in a row now. Every bowler can have one or two bad days, but when it happens back-to-back, it's a cause of worry. We need to have a talk about it when we sit back, and come back stronger.”

KKR currently are at fifth place in the points table with four points from five matches.

IPL 2023: 'Why is he playing...': Yusuf Pathan on Nitish Rana's selection strategy after KKR's loss vs MI

Kolkata Knight Rider skipper Nitish Rana and Mumbai Indian's young bowler Hrithik Shokeen got into a verbal spat during KKR vs MI on April 16, Sunday.

The incident happened in the ninth over when Shokeen dismissed Rana for a meagre score of five runs to leave KKR three down for 73. Rana wasn't happy with is dismissal and some words were exchanged between him and Shokeen. MI's stand-in skipper Suryaumar Yadav and veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla then came in between to cool things down. Have a look at the video here:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), meanwhile, took the cognizance of the incident and found Rana in breach of Article 2.21 of IPL's Code of Conduct. Rana also admitted to Level 1 Offence and has been fined 25 percent of his match fees.

As for the match, KKR rode on Venkatesh Iyer's maiden IPL ton - 104 off 51 balls - to score 185/6 in 20 overs. It was only the second time a KKR batsman has managed to score an IPL hundred after Brendon McCullum's 158 not out in IPL's inaugural match back in 2008.

The score, nonetheless, proved little before Mumbai's batting line-up which were given a flying start by their swashbuckling opener Ishan Kishan. Along with Impact Sub replacement Rohit Sharma, Kishan, who scored a 21-ball 50, added 65 for the first wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav then came back to form just in time to score 25-ball 43 while Tilak Verma and Tim David played handy knocks of 30 and 24, respectively to help Mumbai register their second win on the trot.

Rana wasn't happy with his bowlers, who have given 200 runs two times in five matches so far, and tore into them at the post-match presentation.

"Definitely, I would like my bowling unit to deliver. One or two matches are fine... but it's happening for five matches in a row now," Said Rana to Ravi Shastri after the match.

KKR currently are at fifth place in the points table with four points from five matches.

IPL 2023: Nitish Rana, Hrithik Shokeen get into ugly verbal spat during KKR vs MI - WATCH

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana tore into his bowlers after the latest loss against Mumbai Indians. Batting first, KKR managed a score of 185/6 in 20 overs after looking set to score at least 200, thanks to Venkatesh Iyer's 104 off 51 balls.

Speaking to Ravi Shastri at the post match presentation, Rana said, "Definitely, I would like my bowling unit to deliver. One or two matches are fine... but it's happening for five matches in a row now. Every bowler can have one or two bad days, but when it happens back-to-back, it's a cause of worry. We need to have a talk about it when we sit back, and come back stronger.”&nbsp;

The statement comes after KKR bowlers have leaked 200 runs on two occasions in the five matches they have played so far. And in the two matches where KKR bowlers didn't go for 200, they leaked 191 and 186 against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, respectively. In the five matches, only once KKR bowlers have one for 123, against Royals Challengers Bangalore, in a winning cause.&nbsp;

As for the batting, KKR have crossed 200 three times, with one of the times being against Gujarat Titans, where they chased down 204, thanks for Rinku Singh's five sixes off the last five balls of the match.

In their latest match, against MI, KKR batted first and after an early wicket, Venkatesh Iyer tore into MI bowlers, scoring a blistering ton, a first for a KKR batsman since Brendon McCullum's 158 not out in the inaugural match of IPL history back in 2008. Other KKR batsmen, however, couldn't match up Iyer's audacity as they fell short by 20 runs at least on a good batting wicket.&nbsp;

Chasing 186, MI were given a flying start by Ishan Kishan, who hit a 21-ball 50 and added 65 for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma, who came in to bat as an Impact Sub. Stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav also returned to form with 25-ball 43 while Tilak Verma and Tim David played handy knocks of 30 and 24, respectively to help Mumbai register their second win on the trot.

IPL 2023: Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar eager to see MI's approach against KKR

Suryakumar Yadav has made headlines for reasons he wouldn't have loved to make ones for. In his past six innings across formats, Surya has got out on a first-ball duck four times - three against Australia during the ODI series and once in the last match against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. However, Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher has praised the India batter for showing guts and not backing away from taking the challenge up front.

During the clash against DC, Suryakumar Yadav dropped Axar Patel's catch, while the ball hit straight into his eye, which later got swelled. Following that incident, when SKY, as Surya's fans call him, came to the dressing room, Boucher thought he would send him lower down the order to give him more time to get treated. But Surya's answer to that shocked and cheered Boucher at the same time.

After the game, Boucher revealed instead of backing out from batting at his regular spot, Surya only asked Mark to send him to the number four spot.&nbsp;

“He did get hit on the field, he came in, and his eye was starting to swell. He had to ice it. I came in thinking, maybe we move him down in the order. He meets me in the bathroom and says, 'Coach, actually I want to bat 4'. For me, that's not shying away from anything,” said Boucher as quoted by India Today.

Boucher went on to add that such characters are the ones that make up a good dressing room. He got impressed by him and said instead of hiding in the back, he decided to take it upfront.

“These are the type of characters you want in the dressing room. When the times are tough, they're not scared to hide in the back of the changing room. They want to go out there. So, well done,” Boucher added.

Meanwhile, the win over Delhi was Mumbai's first win of the season. As things stand, they are placed eighth on the points table with two points from three games.

Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma adds another feather to his cap, joins hands with Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma finally came back in form against Delhi Capitals as he scored a nonchalant 65 off 45 in his team's first win of the season.

With the fifty, Rohit also eclipsed Virat Kohli as the player with most runs against Delhi Capitals. After his 50, Rohit now has 977 runs against Delhi at an average of 32.56 in 33 matches. Rohit scored these runs at a strike rate of 131.14 along with the highest score of 74 not out.

Rohit's matches included both the teams he has played for in the IPL, i.e., Deccan Charges from 2008-11 and Mumbai Indians afterwards. RCB's Virat, on the other hand, has scored 925 runs in 26 matches against Delhi at an average of 51.38 and a strike rate of 134.05 with the highest score of 99.

Among other players who have taken a liking to Delhi are Ajinkya Rahane with 792 runs in 20 matches, Robin Uthappa with 740 runs in 28 matches and Suresh Raina with 661 runs in 26 matches.

Coming to the match, &nbsp;Rohit was aggressive since the start as MI chased a target of 173. He, along with opening partner Ishan Kishan, added 71 runs for the first wicket. Kishan also scored a handy 31 off 26. After Kishan got out, Rohit found a strong partner in Tilak Verma who was promoted up the order. The duo added 68 runs for the second wicket before Verma fell on a personal score of 41 off 29.

Rohit eventually got out in the 17th over of the chase at the team score of 143 but his innings had made sure that MI don't have much to sweat about.

Delhi, on the other hand, once again misfired as a batting unit. Apart from skipper David Warner, who scored 51 off 47 - his third fifty-plus score in four matches, no top-order batsman could hang around. Axax Patel, from the lower-middle order, scored a quickfire 54 of 25 to help Delhi reach a decent target of 172 in 19.4 overs.

For Mumbai, veteran spinner Piyush Chawla was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/22 in his four overs and ratting DC's middle order. Speedster Jason Behrendorff also picked up 3/23 in his three overs.

Also Watch: Suryakumar misses catch, ball hits his eye in MI vs DC Among other players who have taken a liking to Delhi are Ajinkya Rahane with 792 runs in 20 matches, Robin Uthappa with 740 runs in 28 matches and Suresh Raina with 661 runs in 26 matches. Coming to the match, Rohit was aggressive since the start as MI chased a target of 173. IPL 2023: MI's Rohit Sharma breaks THIS Virat Kohli record with fifty against DC

Mumbai Indians and India's star batter Suryakumar Yadav had a horrible outing against Delhi Capitals as he got out on a duck and almost suffered a freak eye injury while fielding in the first innings.

The incident happened in the 17th over of DC's batting with Delhi all-rounder Axar Patel on charge. The batsman had already hit Mumbai bowler Jason Behrendorff for a six and pulled for one more on the next ball but directly to Surya.

It all seemed a wicket for MI as SKY is known as one of the safest fielders but lost the sight of the ball at the last moment and the ball landed directly near his eye.

MI's medic staff arrived quickly on the field to assist SKY and he eventually left the field. Have a look at the video here:

While batting, Surya came in at number four in the 16th over but lasted only one ball as he was scooped by Mukesh Kumar in a double-wicket over. This is the third time SKY got out cheaply in IPL 2023 in three games of MI so far. Prior to IPL, Surya scored three consecutive golden ducks in the three-match ODI series against Australia as well.

Coming to match, MI eventually got on the points table with their first win of the IPL 2023 as they beat Delhi Capitals by six wickets. Chasing a target of 173, MI were given a rollicking start by openers Rohit Sharma, who scored 65 off 45 and Ishan Kishan, who managed 31 off 26.&nbsp;

The duo added 71 runs for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. Tilak Verma was promoted at number three and scored a blistering 41 off 29, while adding 68 with Rohit for the second wicket. MI wobbled in the chase a bit with Rohit getting out shortly after Mukesh Kumar's double-wicket over, but Cam Green, 17 of 8, and Tim David, 13 off 11, took them home for their first win of the season.

Delhi, meanwhile, again failed as a batting unit with only David Warner firing at the top order, scoring 51 off 47 - his third fifty in four games. Axar Patel also smacked a whirlwind 54 off 25 as Delhi managed 172 in 19.4 overs.&nbsp;

IPL 2023: Suryakumar misses catch, ball hits his eye in MI vs DC - WATCH

Chennai Super Kings drubbed aside Mumbai Indians at Wankhede by seven wickets on Saturday, April 8 for the second win of the season. For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane were the stars with bowl and bat respectively as Chennai chased the target of 158 runs in just 18.1 overs.

Rahane, who played his first game for CSK, came out to bat in swashbuckling manner as he smashed a 19-ball fifty - the fastest in the IPL 2023, after Chennai lost the first wicket early.

Speaking to Player-of-the-Match Ravindra Jadeja after the match, Rahane said "his preparations were good and he had had a good domestic season in both white and red-ball cricket coming into the IPL," when asked by Jadeja about how he prepared for the blistering knock.

IPL 2023: CSK stars Jadeja and Rahane REVEAL secrets behind impactful performance vs MI - WATCH

Mumbai Indians lost their second consecutive match of IPL 2023 and are yet to open their points account on the leaderboard. While MI are playing without their key bowler Jasprit Bumrah, it is the batting that has caused concerns in the last couple of games for them.

Speaking on the same, former MI player Harbhajan Singh, while talking to Star Sports after the match, said, "We say this team's bowling is their weakness but the batting has actually disappointed if we analyze it properly. The batters will have to score runs, then only your bowlers will come into the game. They are not playing freely. A big team is one which plays freely. It didn't seem that a five-time champion team would play this sort of cricket. They have big names in batting but they have disappointed in both the matches."

Mumbai had a good start against CSK as Rohit and Ishan Kishan added 38 for the first wicket. Kishan took the charge after Rohit's departure and MI looked set for a decent score with 64/2 in 6.4 overs and players like Tilak Verma &amp; Tim David still to come.

CSK spinners, however, had different plans as they strangulated MI innings with four wickets in four overs, leaving them reeling at 76/5 in 9.1 overs. MI just couldn't come out of the situation and managed just 157/8 in 20 overs.

Harbhajan further added to his thoughts about MI's batting and said, "Tilak Varma was definitely the hero in the first match but once Tilak Varma got out today, it seemed no one had the awareness. Tim David was there but he only knows how to play big shots, he doesn't know how to take the game forward. The singles and doubles that Tilak took were good."

CSK though, lost the first wicket early in the chase, but Ajinkya Rahane scored a quickfire 50 to make small work of the target. Chennai registered their second win on the trot after beating Mumbai by seven wickets.

Mumbai next play against DC on April 11.

IPL 2023: 'They are not...:' Harbhajan Singh's BOLD remark after MI's loss against CSK

Mumbai Indian will take on Chennai Super Kings in one of the most riveting rivalries of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, April 8, 2023. This will also be the 1000th match to be played in the IPL.

While MS Dhoni-led CSK will look to continue their winning streak after beating LSG by 12 runs in the last match, Rohit Sharma-led MI will be keen to open their account after losing their opening match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).&nbsp;

Chennai, who lost their first match against defending champion Gujarat Titans, however, might have to do without their star all-rounder Ben Stokes. The English Test captain, according to a report by the media outlet, The Indian Express, has been advised to rest for 10 days after experiencing pain in his heel following a practice session ahead of MI clash.

Stokes, who was bought for a whooping sum of INR 16.25 crore in the mini auction ahead of IPL 2023, did play in the previous two matches for Chennai but failed to make an impact with either bat or ball.

In season's first match against GT, Stokes played as pure batter and scored seven off six in CSK's loss by five wickets. In the second match against LSG, Stokes scored a paltry eight off eight in the 400+ run-fest and went for 18 in his solitary over. CSK although, won the match by 12 runs after scoring 217/5 in their 20 overs.

Even before the season started, there were some doubts whether Stokes will be able to bowl or not and CSK batting coach Mike Hussey had said that the Englishman will be used as pure batter initially.&nbsp;

The MI-CSK match is one of the most anticipated contests in the IPL and with Stokes unsure for the marquee clash despite not firing in the last two matches, MI surely have an upper hand as they seek their first win of the season.

MI vs CSK IPL 2023: 'Indian El Clasico' Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings; Check probable playing XI squad

Ranked number one T20I batter in the world, Suryakumar Yadav has struggled to replicate his 2022 form this year. Ahead of the start of the IPL 2023, Surya registered an unwanted record in the three-match ODI series against Australia, where he got dismissed on a first-ball duck in all three matches.&nbsp;
Down on confidence, SKY, as fans call him, failed to deliver in Mumbai Indians’ first match against RCB, getting out on just 15.

Ab de Villers, the master of all-around batting, has come in aid for down and out Surya and has suggested the India batter to stick with the basics and continue doing what he does best and remember what brought him results.&nbsp;

Speaking on Jio Cinema, de Villiers said, "He (Surya) is probably in that phase now where he needs to do something. But the secret of it all is not to panic and not to change your game plan. He has got to stick to what has been working for him over the years."

"Maybe he can try and remember 'what are my basics' or 'what did I do very well when I was just consistently scoring runs' and because obviously, he took his game to a completely different level," the former RCB star added.

Over the years, De Villiers, in several leagues across the world, has succeeded and failed. Having shouldered his team's burden on many such occasions, he knows what it feels like to deliver the expectations. Speaking on the same line, De Villiers said Surya must know he cannot play the same kind of innings every time.

"It is not a bad thing just to come a level down and spend a little time in there before you pop out again. You cannot always score 100 off 40 balls – it is not always going to happen," he said.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Suryakumar’s Mumbai Indians will next face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (April 8)&nbsp;at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the start of the IPL 2023, Surya registered an unwanted record in the three-match ODI series against Australia, where he got dismissed on a first-ball duck in all three matches.

Down on confidence, SKY, as fans call him, failed to deliver in Mumbai Indians’ first match against RCB, getting out on just 15. "Maybe he can try and remember 'what are my basics' or 'what did I do very well when I was just consistently scoring runs' and because obviously, he took his game to a completely different level," the former RCB star added. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition kicked off on March 31 and is already gaining traction with each passing day. So far, the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) have won two matches in a row whereas last year's runners-up Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 72 runs. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) , the two most successful IPL teams, have lost one each with the latter winning their previous encounter by 12 runs. Meanwhile, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are also looking serious contenders.

In this regard, many former cricketers recently shared the teams who will finish at the top-two positions after the end of the ongoing group stage.&nbsp; "Sanju Samson's Royals and Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers look like a great side. They can finish as the top two teams," Sanjay Manjrekar -- former Indian batter who is part of the&nbsp;elite commentary panellists of Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of IPL, told on Star.

The situation became worse after fearsome Suryakumar Yadav departed shortly for 15 with the team at 48. Nehal Wadhera (21 off 13) then joined the forces with Tilak Verma and the duo added 50 runs for the fifth wicket.

Three quick wickets of Wadhera, Tim David and Hrithik Shokeen then put brakes on MI's recovery but Verma had different plans. The 20-year-old southpaw took the charge as Mumbai added 48 runs in the last 17 balls to reach 171/7 in 20 overs. Verma remained unbeaten on 84 off 46, hitting nine fours and four sixes.

'They will be lifting IPL 2023 trophy': Michael Vaughan's MASSIVE PREDICTION ahead of season-opener

Rohit Sharma is geaing up for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition, which kicks off on March 31 in Ahmedabad. In IPL 2022, the five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) had a forgettable run where they ended at the bottom in the ten-team tournament. It was the first time that the star-studded MI line-up ended at the bottom in the tournament history. Thus, they will be aiming for a big turnaround in IPL 2023, where they will open their campaign versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 02 in Bengaluru.

Ahead of the IPL 2023 edition, former Indian and MI spinner Pragyan Ojha recalled his first interaction with Rohit. The duo have played a lot of cricket together since the U-15 days and even shared the dressing room for India and the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the initial years of the IPL, before also playing together in the MI camp. Thus, Ojha recalled his early days with Hitman and revealed that Rohit showed a lot of aggression towards him.

'Was surprised to see why he was so aggressive with me': Former India spinner on MI skipper Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is all set for the latest season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the predations are in the final stage. While Mumbai will look to put behind a disappointing 2022 season, their main aim will be to conquer the glorious title for the sixth time. However, ahead of the start he was disappointed to miss out on the services of star man Jasprit Bumrah and says those are big shoes to fill in.

“It will be a big miss," the India skipper said.

"It is sad, but we do understand how big his (Jasprit) shoes are to fill."

While MI are yet to find a suitable replacement for Jasprit, the franchise is looking to close in on a replacement as the IPL season is set for a kickoff in less than 48 hours. Mumbai will have the luxury of getting an experienced player but replacing Bumrah will be a big headache.

"Yes, we have been discussing a few options and hopefully we can close it in the next couple of days and let you know about it," Rohit said on Wednesday.

"There is an opportunity that is up for grabs, to fill that place. A lot of young players will get an opportunity and this is a platform for them to come out and express themselves. There are a couple of guys who have been with this team for the last two years and they are very much ready to step up,” Rohit added.

MI’s head coach Mark Boucher also highlighted Bumrah’s absence but insisted there is an opportunity up for grabs. According to him, some young players that can come in and make an impact with their bench strength also a feasible option. There are talks of Arjun Tendulkar’s potential debut for the franchise after he was bought for Rs 30 lakh in the 2022 auctions.

"We will see tonight (in a practice match). He's playing tonight. One of the things about international players is that they need the freedom to move around a bit. All of them have been playing cricket. Jofra obviously is coming off a major injury, he has been playing quite a bit of cricket lately, which is good. He's in a good space. He's ready to get up there and perform, which, for us, is a good place to be in. We will see tonight how he goes," Boucher said while addressing Bumrah’s potential replacement headache.

Mumbai will bid to win their sixth IPL title in the upcoming season and will start their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The contest will take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 2 when the entire nation also celebrates the 12th anniversary of India’s 2011 World Cup campaign.

IPL 2023: Rohit rues THIS star man's absence, says 'big shoes to fill' ahead of season kickoff against RCB

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a couple of days away from the 2023 season and Indian players' workload is something which has been in the news due to rigorous scheduling these days. With India slated to play in the World Test Championship (WTC) final nine days after the IPL finale, it'll be important for players to stay fresh.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma recently said that it is up to the franchises now to manage the workload as they are the owners. Now, as per a report by the media house Indian Express, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit will be taking off from a few matches, keeping the WTC final in mind.

After the WTC final against Australia in June, India are slated to play Asia Cup in ODI format this year in September and then there's the ICC ODI World Cup around October. The schedule is jam-packed and Rohit, who will lead the side in all these tournaments, will use IPL to take some rest in between, as per the report.

In the matches Rohit is resting, Suryakumar Yadav is going to lead the team, claims the same report. Kieron Pollard was the designated vice-captain of Mumbai Indians but after he retired last season, word no. 1 T20I batter Surya definitely fits the bill.

Yadav, however, has been under scrutiny after his three consecutive first-ball ducks against Australia in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series. Australia had won the series 2-1 after losing the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series 1-2.

It'll be interesting to see how Surya fares in the role of a skipper as he'll be walking into very big shoes. Rohit Sharma is the most successful IPL skipper with five trophies to his name. He led Mumbai to titles in 2013, 2015. 2017, 2019 and 2022.

Mumbai start their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2.

IPL 2023: MI skipper Rohit Sharma to take rest in some matches, Surya to lead in his absence: Report

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition is set to kick off on March 31 in Ahmedabad with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Gujarat's capital city. The forthcoming edition is much hyped as it can be CSK captain MS Dhoni's last season. While there has been no official confirmation, speculations are rife that the former Indian captain might retire from IPL after the 2023 season.

Recently, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Team India skipper Rohit Sharma opened up on Dhoni's IPL future and shared his take.&nbsp;"I've been hearing for the last 2-3 years that this is going to be MS Dhoni's last season. I think he is fit enough to play a few more seasons," Rohit said during MI's pre-season press conference.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Sanjay Bangar also opined on Dhoni's successor at CSK and said, "As far as his successor is concerned, that's something the team management and his himself would have thought about. There are some good additions to the team. Even in terms of international players, they have Devon Conway and Ben Stokes. So there are a couple of leadership candidates but it all boils down to with time, when he wants to pass on the baton. I am sure, once he hangs on his boots, he would still be participating with CSK in some role or the other."

CSK will kick off the IPL 2023 edition by locking horns with Hardik Pandya &amp; Co. They will then host their first game, after IPL 2019, taking on the KL Rahul-led&nbsp;Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Will IPL 2023 be MS Dhoni's final season? MI skipper Rohit Sharma shares his take

Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians have won the inaugural&nbsp;edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) on Sunday. In a tensed final against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai remained on the top during the chase, and reached the target of 132 in the final over by seven wickets to script history.

The up-and-roaring Delhi Capitals side failed to replicate the starts they got in the group stages in the big finale against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. The star DC openers - Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning hit the ground running before England’s Issy Wong broke the partnership by picking up Verma inside the second over. Alice Capsey and Jemimah Rodrigues soon followed her as medium-pacer Wong brought Delhi down.

Joined by Marizanne Kapp, Lanning went about her business and churned out gaps to release some pressure. The pair stitched a 38-run partnership to put Delhi back on track. When it looked like this duo could change gears now, Mumbai came back with a flurry of wickets, reducing the Delhi side to 75 for seven with all of their star batters back in the hut.

As it looked like DC will not be able to cross the 100-run mark, seamer Shikha Pandey came to their rescue, playing a counterattacking inning. Her little cameo of 27 off 17 balls brought life into the Delhi dugout as they reached a competitive total of 131 for nine in 20 overs.

Mumbai’s chase began on the same ground as they also lost two wickets – openers, in their case, inside the Powerplay. England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then steadied the ship with a composed yet dry partnership in the middle. More so, they crossed the 50-run mark inside the 10th over only. The pair hit a few boundaries as the chase started to get exciting.

When it looked like Mumbai is getting closer to the target, a misunderstanding in the middle saw Harmanpreet falling short of her ground, as she got run out on well-made 37.

In the final overs, Mumbai batters remained composed in their approach and without much hassle chased down the target with seven wickets in hand.&nbsp;
