Wooo! WWE Legend Ric Flair reacts to Rohit Sharma’s iconic walk after India’s T20 WC triumph

It’s always fun when two different sports meet – this time it's cricket and WWE.

Moments after leading India to its second T20 World Cup title in Barbados, Captain Rohit Sharma did an iconic slow walk towards the podium before collecting the trophy and celebrating with the team. That, however, reminded everyone of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, who used to walk similarly during his in-ring matches. A day after the video went viral, Flair reacted to it on his social media handle.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Ric posted, "@rohitsharma45 Taking A Page Out Of My Playbook! WOOOOO!"

Meanwhile, for those who watched the moment closely, India spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the one who suggested Rohit does ‘Ric Flair’ while picking up the T20 World Cup trophy. Although he shrugged it off at that moment, Rohit surprised the cricket world with that when the moment came. The fans in attendance and billions watching on the TV cherished the moment.

Rohit says goodbye to T20Is

The veteran batter Rohit Sharma announced his T20I retirement following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup Final against South Africa, which India won by seven runs. He retired as the highest run-getter (4231) in the format, with five centuries – the most by any batter in T20Is. With the win in Barbados, Rohit became the first Indian cricketer to win two T20 World Cups – 2007 in South Africa and 2024 in West Indies.

Alongside Rohit, two other players, including batting great Virat Kohli and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, also announced their decisions to step aside from T20Is.

While Virat’s numbers in this format need no introduction, given how big a match-winner he’s been, Jadeja bows out as one of the finest the game has seen. The ace all-rounder had several handy outings to recall in his glorious career, with his ground fielding and rocket throws being his trump cards.

What’s next for Team India?

Following the conclusion of the 20-team-tournament in the Americas, Team India will fly to Zimbabwe for five T20Is starting July 6, with Shubman Gill named stand-in captain for the tour.

In the absence of a head coach, with Rahul Dravid departing, NCA chief VVS Laxman will fill in his place. A new head coach, yet to be named, will take over the reins from the Sri Lanka white-ball tour later in the month.

As perreports, former India opener and two-time World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir is leading the race to replace Dravid.
