South Africa defeated India by three wickets in their ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 league match on Thursday (Oct 9) in Visakhapatnam and further strengthened their position on the points table. Chasing 252, Proteas batters Nadine de Klerk (84) and Chloe Tryon (49) displayed calmness and skills and helped their team to clinch the thriller. Earlier, Laura Wolvaardt (70) also helped her team to rescue as opener Tazmin Brits departed for a duck. For India, Kranti Gaud (2/59) and Sneh Rana (2/47) took two wickets each.

After losing the toss, Indians were asked to bat first. The Indian innings started very poorly as the team slipped to 102 for the loss of 6 wickets. Later, Richa Ghosh and Sneh Rana rescued things with a brilliant partnership. Ghosh scored 94 off 77 balls, while Rana made 33 from 24 balls. Their partnership not only lifted the score board but also gave the team confidence after a slow start and pushed India to 251 at the end of the innings.

Chasing, 252, Proteas batters Nadine de Klerk (84) and Chloe Tryon (49) displayed calmness and skills and helped their team to clinch the thriller. For India, Rana continued her good form with the ball also, dismissing Marizanne Kapp (20) and Chloe Tryon. Kranti Gaud also took two important wickets, including the big one of Tazmin Brits. This will be South Africa's third consecutive win against India in the 50-over format.
South Africa will now look to carry this momentum into their next ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 matches, while India will look to bounce back in their next match against Australia on Sunday (Oct 12).
