It overtook Psy's Gangnam Style.

"See You Again" was on the soundtrack of the 2015 action film Furious 7.

The song -- which also features Charlie Puth -- paid tribute to the actor Paul Walker, who died in a car crash on November 30, 2013.

Walker had acted in six of the seven Fast and Furious movies.

"Gangnam Style" had become the most-watched video on YouTube video on December 21, 2012, and held theposition for some 5 years.

It currently has 2,894,509,456 views, just a few thousand short of "See You Again".

It was also the first video to reach the one-billion-views mark.

Justin Bieber's "Sorry" holds thethird spot with 2,635,757,066 views.
