Woman sells 15-day-old baby for Rs. 45,000 to treat ailing husband

In a shocking incident, a woman in Utter Pradesh sold her 15-year-old child for Rs. 45,000 to treat her ailing husband. 

The women said she "did not have adequate funds" for her husband's treatment and had to resort to selling her baby. 

The incident happened in Mirganj area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh. 

No case has been registered yet but Bareilly district magistrate Raghvendra Vikram Singh informed that he has asked a sub-divisional magistrate and officer to probe the sale.

"The administration will provide every support to the family after receiving the report from the officers," Singh said.

The Social Welfare and Social Education Department had taken note of the incident and assured that it was making all efforts to bring the child back to the family.
