Maldives emergency: Special operations unit enter Supreme Court, arrest Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed

The US today condemned the Maldives government declaring that it stands with the people of Maldives and urged the government and military to "respect the rule of law". Media reports said Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed, judge Ali Hameed and judicial service administrator Hassan Saeed who were in the premises were arrested.

In the biggest fall in its history, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 1,600 points at one point as Wall Street experienced a bloodbath on Monday. The Dow's gains for 2018 were erased in a matter of hours as 4.6 per cent was wiped off the value of America's 30 largest companies to finish at as it closed at 24,345.75 ending down 1,175.21 points down.

Special screening of 'Padmaavat' for high court judge over FIR against Bhansali

The film "Padmaavat" was specially screened for a Rajasthan high court judge who will today decide on a plea for quashing a police complaint against the film's director and actors after watching the film. The special screening of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed period film started at 8 pm and was over by 10.40 pm, after which Justice Sandeep Mehta, accompanied by four members of his staff, left the multiplex. The only viewers of the film were Justice Mehta, his reader and two other staff members.

Soon, bags heavier than 15-kg to be barred at 20 Delhi Metro stations

It may not be a smooth transit for Delhi metro commuters heading to the railway stations/airport with a big baggage, as DMRC has restricted the weight of the luggage to 15kg. Travellers using the Delhi Metro from select stations have been barred from carrying large bags, with authorities restricting the luggage size in view of security considerations, officials said.
