Watch: Meet Swedish girl who sings and speaks in Sanskrit

"Who says Sanskrit is not a spoken Language?" External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted on Monday night with a video of a Swedish girl singing and speaking in Sanskrit.

Ananda Himani, who hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, is a holistic wellness motivator and a Sanskrit teacher.

She has been living in India for a few years now anddid her graduation from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in Performing Arts, Hindustani classical and then went on to study at the Samskrita Bharti.

In the video shared by Swaraj on her Twitter handle, Himani can be seen singing in Sanskrit and on top of that - the whole interview is in the Sanskrit language. Her fluency in the language certainly goes to show that she has been learning the language for a long time.

She says that she has always had a passion for singing since she was in school. Later, she had an encounter with a woman who took her to a meditation camp which left her mesmerised - and this where she heard her first Sanskrit word - "Om."

She went on to talk about how the camp had a massive impact on her life and the how she started believing in the chants she learnt which drove her to learn Sanskrit.

She came to India when she was 19 and went to Bangalore to study Sankskrit for six months, this was when her journey began. She travelled numerous places - Uttarkashi, Nepal, and recently attended the World Book Fair 2018 in Delhi.

Himani is also a registered nurse at the Centric Care in Sweden where she would often take sessions and teach Sanskrit to her fellow colleagues bit by bit.

Finally, she talks about her fondness towards the country, its people. She says "Sanskrit is not just a language. It's a lifestyle" .
