RSS leader Ravinder Gosaiwas shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants in Ludhiana on Tuesdaymorning.
News reports quoted eyewitnesses as saying Gosai, 60, was shot from close range near his house in the city's Kailash Nagar area.
He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.
The RSS pracharak was shot while returning from the shakha.
News reports, citing CCTV footage, said the suspected killers had recced the area before the killing.

Another senior Punjab RSS leader, Brigadier (retd) Jagdish Gagneja, was shot dead by young men on a bike in Jalandhar last year.
Brigadier Gagneja was a seniorvice-president of the Punjab RSS.
His attackers have not been caught so far.
