India brings back its embassy staff from Kabul; flight lands in Jamnagar

Indian government decided toevacuate itsembassy officials in Kabul, including the ambassadorand bring them back home, a spokesperson for foreign ministry confirmedin New Delhion Tuesday.
As per reports, anIndian Air Force C-17 aircraft had taken off from Kabulon Tuesday. The aircraft has landedin Jamnagar, Gujarat. It was carrying more than120 Indianembassyofficials.
As part of the emergency evacuation in view of the prevailing situation in the Afghan capital,thestaffof Indian embassy in Kabulwas brought inside the secure areas of the airport safelylateon Monday, reports saidcitingpeople familiar with the development.
In a tweet,External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “In view of the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his Indian staff will move to India immediately.”
The situation has worsened in Afghanistanafter the country wastaken over by the Taliban.Thousands of people in desperation to fleethecountrythronged Kabul's airport on Monday.
On Monday, anIAFheavy-lift transport aircraft brought back some personnel to India. TheTuesday's flight is the second one to bring the officials.
