The national capital recorded an overall AQI of 380, a slight deterioration from Saturday’s levels.
Delhi’s air quality has remained ‘very poor’ for the 10th consecutive day on Sunday (Nov 23) as thick, toxic smog continues to blanket the city, with several areas recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of over 400. The national capital recorded an average AQI of 380 at 7 am despite the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV in effect across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI on Sunday morning was recorded at 359.
The highest AQI level was recorded in Bawana at 435 in the ‘severe’ category, while NSIT Dwarka recorded the lowest AQI of 313, as per the data by the CPCB. Anand Vihar recorded a ‘very poor’ AQI of 429, as toxic smog surrounded the air in the region.
Chandani Chowk recorded an AQI of 390, ITO 384, Punjabi Bagh 411, RK Puram 397, Patparganj 401, Pusa 360, and Dwaraka Sector-8 386.
Visuals from India Gate and Kartavya Path showed a layer of toxic smog hovering in the air. The area recorded an AQI of 388, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
According to the categorisation of AQI levels, an AQI of 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’.
