Facebook has started an Aadhaar based feature on its platform, wherein it is asking new users in India to use the same name as displayed on their Aadhaar card while signing up for a new account.

However, it is not mandatory for the users to put the same name that appears on Aadhaar card.

The Facebook official spokesperson explained that they are doing this testto make easier for users to find their friends on Facebook.

Facebook further clarified that this is not a new medium of user verification.

This new test won't be visible for all users as Facebook is testing it for a limited audience only.
