Facebook asks new users' Aadhaar details, says 'it's not mandatory'

Facebook has started an Aadhaar based feature on its platform, wherein it is asking new users in India to use the same name as displayed on their Aadhaar card while signing up for a new account.
Themove is aimed tocurb the number of fake accounts on the social media platform that has over 241 million users in the country, making India the second largest market for Facebook after the US.

However, it is not mandatory for the users to put the same name that appears on Aadhaar card.
The Facebook official spokesperson explained that they are doing this testto make easier for users to find their friends on Facebook.
