The EU's powerful antitrust watchdog said such anticompetitive behaviour increases prices and reduces choice for consumers.

The EU on Tuesday slapped luxury fashion brands Gucci, Chloe and Loewe with fines amounting to more than 157 million euros ($182 million) for fixing resale prices. The fines come after the European Commission launched surprise raids on the companies in April 2023 and a formal antitrust probe in July 2024. The commission said it has now imposed the fines because the three brands restricted independent retailers' ability to set their own retail prices online and in stores. The EU's powerful antitrust watchdog said such anticompetitive behaviour increases prices and reduces choice for consumers. "This decision sends a strong signal to the fashion industry and beyond that we will not tolerate this kind of practices in Europe," the EU's antitrust commissioner Teresa Ribera said in a statement. The penalties were reduced for all three after they acknowledged their violations and cooperated with the commission. Brussels hit Kering-owned Italian label Gucci -- by far the largest of the three companies -- with a 119.7-million-euro fine for infringements between April 2015 and April 2023. French house Chloe received a 19.7-million-euro fine for violations between December 2019 and April 2023. And the EU slapped Spanish house Loewe, owned by French luxury group LVMH, with a fine worth 18 million euros for the infringement period between December 2015 and April 2023. The EU said the companies "interfered with their retailers' commercial strategies" including by forcing them not to deviate from maximum discount rates and specific periods for sales. In some cases, the three brands temporarily banned retailers from offering any discounts, the commission said, adding that the firms "acted independently of each other". Kering said it "acknowledges" the EU's decision "related to past commercial practices at Gucci" and had prepared for a fine in its financial statements for the first half of 2025. "The exposure is entirely covered," it added. Loewe said it "reiterates its firm commitment to acting in strict compliance with competition law". "We take this matter extremely seriously and acted with the utmost diligence to address it," Chloe, owned by Swiss group Richemont, said in a statement. "Since the 2023 investigation, we have reinforced our compliance framework with enhanced measures to ensure strict adherence to competition law."

Smarter care plans for every stage:

Early stage: Lifestyle modifications are the first line of defence to preserve and prolong joint function. Adopting a healthy weight reduces joint stress on the knee joint. Engage in low-impact or non-weight-bearing activities such as swimming, cycling and yoga to help strengthen the muscles around the joint, also improving stability. Anti-inflammatory medications or topical gels undoubtedly help to manage the occasional pain.

Also read: Why THIS small pacific country is seeing a rapid surge in HIV cases among teens

The next stage will continue to develop and explain a care plan, taking into consideration the prior or current management.

Moderate to advanced stage: In addition to lifestyle modifications, concentrated physiotherapy may improve joint function and reduce stiffness. Supportive devices like knee braces may be useful. For moderate to early advanced stages, less invasive treatment options like viscosupplementation (injections of fluid to lubricate the joint) or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy may decrease pain and slow progression of osteoarthritis.

In some settings, arthroscopy may be considered to remove damaged tissue, but it is generally not recommended. However, when pain persists, despite preventive measures, slightly more invasive procedures like partial knee replacement may be an additional option. A partial knee replacement option may provide pain relief and use of the joint without total knee replacement.

End stage: If the joint has significant damage that affects your daily activities, then total knee replacement is the best treatment option. Current surgical techniques and implants can provide excellent long-term results in the right patient.

The importance of an accurate diagnosis

An important step in smarter arthritis care is having the right diagnosis. Knee pain can come from multiple different causes – ligament injuries, meniscus tears, bursitis, or potentially referred pain from the hip or spine. Seeing an orthopaedic specialist helps ensure that a treatment protocol matches the actual problem.

All of these treatment options should be evaluated and completed in conjunction with your orthopaedic surgeon to fabricate an appropriate care plan.

Just because your knees hurt doesn’t mean it’s time for a replacement. Arthritis is a progressive condition, and the treatment should be appropriate for the stage of your arthritis. If diagnosed early, with some lifestyle modifications, some focused therapies, and a stepwise approach to treatment, many people can maintain their natural joints for years. Surgery might be a powerful option, but not an absolute fix, which is to be used at the right time, for the right patient, with the guidance of a specialist.

The most common type of arthritis that occurs in the knee is osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition in which the cartilage (the smooth material that cushions the joint) breaks down over time.

Alec Baldwin has shared a health update a day after he and his brother Stephen Baldwin were involved in a car accident in East Hampton in New York. The incident took place on October 13, as their vehicle hit a tree during severe weather conditions affecting the greater New York City area. According to reports from local authorities, Alec, 67, was driving a white Range Rover SUV when the collision occurred. Alex Baldwin gives a health update In a short video shared on Instagram, the actor confirmed the crash and assured that both he and his brother Stephen were unharmed. “I got all these inquiries about my car thing this morning — I was in a car accident this morning. I'm fine,” he said. Baldwin stated he was driving his wife’s car, which got badly damaged. He explained that the crash occurred after “a garbage truck the size of a whale” appeared in front of him, forcing him to swerve. “To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree,” Baldwin said. “I hit a big, fat tree. And crushed my car — my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine, and I’m fine and my brother’s fine.” The vehicle’s front end sustained significant damage, but both brothers were seen exiting safely with no visible injuries. Videos from the crash site were being circulated on social media on Monday.

Youforia Chapter Parth was showcased in Ahmedabad on October 11th and 12th, 2025, leaving everyone spellbound with brilliant visuals and storytelling. The world's first Hexaimmersive concert, a format that has been conceptualised and directed by filmmaker-composer Hrutul Patel. In an exclusive interaction with Hrutul Patel, Maanuj Desai, who curated the dance, and singer Tirth Thakkar, explained how storytelling with the help of sound, motion, and imagination brings everyone together.

Hrutul Patel on Youforia: 'It is a feeling...'

Q: Tell us about the whole concept, Hexaimmersive music, and what Youforia is all about

Hrutul: Euphoria is a feeling. It's always about feeling nothing and everything at the same time. As I spoke it, it's about feeling the infinite with the weight of nothing. It's a feeling that liberates you but also does not bind you to the concept of freedom. But, honestly, this entire journey never came together as a point-blank vision. It was always one experiment going wrong, leading to a distraction, leading to another failure to experiment with a distraction. But when I started making it, I went in for it. When I started storyboarding from a directional point of view, that's when I realized I could use six different screens as six different entities. I don't necessarily have to stick to a uniform 360 visual, which is a limitation in a 360 setup.

Q: What is the 100 Weeks 100 Songs challenge?

Hrutul: Initially, the 100 Weeks 100 Songs Challenge started with one small intention back in 2022. But let's make a bank of one-minute songs. Every week, let's make a minute song so that we can actually start pitching those songs to producers, to radio, and to different projects. That was the initial goal. But as we started making the songs and releasing them online every weekend, these songs ranged from different topics. So there were songs about Ramayana and Mahabharat, which came very late on. Right now, if someone asks me, we have actually given a few of our songs to a few projects, but now I've been great because gradually, when it started growing, it became a mirror to my journey. When I started surrendering to my epiphanies, that is when the magic started happening, probably after five to ten minutes.

Also Read: Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie streaming release date announced; when and where to watch the record-breaking sports thriller

Q: What message does it give through the Hexaimmersive concert?

Hrutul: Experiment. Evolve. No centric goal. Evolve. Because, again, if I commit myself to a goal where I just want to do a world tour with this, maybe a lot of epiphanies are waiting, which I am compromising myself and I'm not attending. So commitment is very strong, but sometimes it puts a mask on your face. It stops you from… It just distracts. It doesn't let you get distracted. It blocks your peripheral vision.

Also Read: Karisma Kapoor’s kids allege errors in Sunjay Kapur's ₹30,000 crore estate

Tirth Thakkar on being part of Youforia

Q: How does the 100 Weeks 100 Songs challenge feed into the narrative of Youforia?

Tirth: So, very honestly, we started with a 40-second jingle. The first song was a 40-second song. And all of our ideas were just that we'll make 100 songs and do it for Instagram. And at that time, Instagram had a 30-second reel format. The idea for the show came first. And then we... like, picked songs from our challenge. So it wasn't that we made it around narrative songs. It was the narrative, the story that we wanted to convey. We've picked it because we have a 100-song bank. And somewhere or other we could, you know... fit the songs in the narrative we wanted to show, the story we wanted to tell. So it's the other way around; the narrative and the story came first, and then we found and fit the songs in the middle.

Also Read: Ross Duffer confirms Stranger Things Season 5 runtimes, release dates inside

Q: Your content has a calm, aesthetic vibe — what emotions do you want people to feel when they see it?

Tirth: See, as an artist, I genuinely leave it up to the audience. But I've at least met with 50 people right now, and the common word I've heard from them is purity. And I don't think...I've done more than 600 shows out of this as well, right? I've never heard the word purity used in a music concept. The thing is, they are carrying this message home, which is a bigger thing.

Q: What do you foresee as the future of immersive concerts in India?

Tirth: Since the last two years, this has actually increased very rapidly. If you have just a concert with a singer singing and a band playing with just lights, it doesn't work anymore. You need to create experiences. The people are now bored with such normal, simple concerts. The people want experiences now. And now, we can curate and create as many good immersive experiences as we can.

Also Read: Shooting Stars actress Kim Yoon Hye to tie the knot, agency issue statement

Maanuj Desai speaks about Youforia

Q: What is the better picture, why Youforia, and what goes into the future hereon?

Maanuj: Apart from being a choreographer of Youforia, Hrutul created in terms of what he wanted to convey through whatever his thoughts of spirituality and mythology are. My job as a director was to just take his ideas from his brain and put them out physically. So for me and the dancers, it was more Youforia for us, and that's what you saw.

Q: What will be the core message you are giving through Youforia to all age-group audiences?

Maanuj: Freedom. Hrutul Patel on Youforia: 'It is a feeling...' Q: Tell us about the whole concept, Hexaimmersive music, and what Youforia is all about Hrutul: Euphoria is a feeling. The character, the astronaut said, you are nothing, but also everything. You are the universe. Your DNA is all the blueprints of the universe. Hrutul himself said that everyone is equal.
