The complaint, filed by businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Ltd, claims the incidents took place between 2015 and 2023. Kothari alleged that the couple took the money under the pretext of expanding their business but used it for personal expenses instead.
According to Kothari, in 2015, Shetty and Kundra approached him through a mediator seeking a Rs 75 crore loan for their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which promoted lifestyle products and ran an online shopping platform. The proposed interest rate was 12 per cent. Later, they reportedly asked him to provide the funds as an "investment" instead of a loan, assuring him of monthly returns and repayment of principal.

Kothari claimed he transferred Rs 31.95 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement, and another Rs 28.53 crore in September 2015 under a supplementary agreement. The total amount was credited to Best Deal TV's bank accounts.

Repeated attempts to recover the funds allegedly failed, and Kothari accused the couple of "dishonestly using" the money for personal benefit. Shilpa and Raj's lawyer, Prashant Patil, has denied the allegations and stated that they will present the "truth" to the investigating agencies.

Married people engaging in extra-marital relationships have become the norm. The proof lies in the success of dating apps like Ashley Madison and Gleeden that offer married people a way to enter discreet relationships. One would assume that such relationships might feel like a weight, considering all the sneaking around that needs to be done to hide them from their married partners. However, Tammy Nelson, relationship therapist and consultant for Ashley Madison, says the secretive nature is really what attracts members to have affairs. She told WION, "Keeping these relationships discreet often plays a role in their appeal." In fact, hidden relationships also help counter day-to-day stress, according to a survey carried out by the website. "Hidden relationships can create a psychological buffer, a private world where someone doesn’t have to bring in outside pressures. In the short term, not telling anyone can reduce anxiety by compartmentalising stress," Nelson says.

The website recently also carried out a survey among its members, who admitted that “escapist romance” helps them stay sane amid "global stressors such as inflation and political uncertainty." The survey showed that nearly half of respondents (49%) admitted turning to new connections during stressful times, with women slightly more likely than men to seek out that sense of escape. "Seeking something new is a thrill when life gets overwhelming," Nelson says.

Also Read: Is your partner stressed? Dating apps for married people are becoming popular across the world, as casual relationships are being seen as a way to escape the stress of everyday life. This is true of all age groups and is not limited to the young, Ashley Madison says.

WATCH OUT!
The title track of Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, was unveiled on Thursday. Fans have been curious about the title track – Na De Dil Pardesi Nu (Jogi) ever since the first teaser of the film came out in July this year. Since then, fans have been wanting to hear the full track and on Thursday, due to public demand, the makers released the song, which has vocals by Hanumankind (Sooraj Cherukat), Jasmine Sandlas, Sudhir Yaduvanshi, Shashwat Sachdev, Mohd.
