I want to be an ‘example’: Jr NTR on kids and NTR legacy

Jr NTR comes from third generation of royalty in the Telugu film industry. His grandfather NTR (Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao), his father- Harikrishna, uncle Balakrishna, brother Kalyanram, and now cousinMokshagna Teja, are all actors.

Yet, in an interview with the Associated Press, the actor expressed that he would like to give his children the choice of not carrying on the legacy of acting.

Jr NTR said that he chose acting, and that it was not asked to do it without a choice. In the early 90s, he worked as a child artist infilms such as Brahmarshi Viswamitra and Ramayanam, before debuting as a lead actor with 2001’s Ninnu Choodalani.

He told the news agency that he was granted a full “fair chance” and not restricted to acting only. Talking about himself, he added, “I was a national-level badminton player and a professional classical dancer who toured the country, I’ve seen my share of the world. I’ve been allowed to make mistakes that have been corrected with my family’s guidance.”

He went on to say that he would like to be an ‘example’ to his sons, Abhay and Bhargav, rather than someone they must follow no matter what. “Too much of history is not good for kids. I want to be an example to them to have a journey of their own. I want to give them an opportunity to explore, rather than rubbing it on them. They need to decide for themselves.”

Although, he admitted that his sons want to be actors, among other things, but that could also be because of the ‘environment they’ve grown up in’.
