Game Of Thrones: Lena Headey feels her character Cersei Lannister deserved a better death

For those of you who thought Cersei Lannister in 'Game Of Thrones' deserved a better death, you are not alone. Actress Lena Headey also felt that her iconic character deserved a better death.

Headey's character, Cersei, the ultimate villain of the series, got a lackluster death in the second last episode of 'Game Of Thrones'. The popular series ended in May and Cersei's death was termed as one of the most disappointing moments of the series.

A pile of bricks brought an end to Cersei and her lover/sibling Jamie Lannister's story.

Now, in an interview to Guardian, actress Lena Headey has admitted that her character deserved a better send-off. Revealing that she hasn't had a word with the show's creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss ever since the series ended, Headey was asked if she would have anything to say to them now.

“I will say I wanted a better death,” the star said. “You could go in any way on that show,” she added. “So I was kind of gutted.”

Cersei, who ordered the beheading, murder and torture of so many characters, ultimately died quietly in the arms of her incestuous lover as her palace crumbled above her head. Most expected her to have a face-off with one of the major characters of the show.

Though Headey admitted that it would have been difficult to please everyone. "I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”
“Nobody wants to play a character who’s really fucking dull and has no history,” she further added.

The final season of 'Game Of Thrones' was ranked the lowest by fans as most felt that writers did not give a fitting ending to most of the characters in the show.
